New media man wanted at Aston Villa, online football games, QPR and Emile Heskey

Right, are you looking for a new job where you're going to be responsible for all media decisions for one of the biggest football clubs on the world stage?

Are you willing to embrace the internet as a form of communication, are you willing to push the boundaries and actually create new ones, on the perceived 'ways to do things' and most importantly are you not going to be a smug little mug, stuck in the 90's, that really doesn't know what he's doing?

If you can answer yes to the above then you're the type of person Aston Villa have lacked for a number of years and you could be in with a chance of a career change. If you're interested, contact the club soon.

You might think that a bit harsh but it's not really if you had any dealings with the former head of media, but the person dealing with the press at the moment is someone called Claire Huggins and while I'm not digging through my papers, if she is the same Claire that blocked our ten minutes with Olof Mellberg, after getting the okay from Olof and his agent, then I'm grateful she isn't taking over.

The club have a great opportunity to change how they do things now and I hope they bring someone in from the outside and someone that isn't blinkered or will be concerned about upsetting the apple cart.

Expect to see a complete online change soon because anyone worth their salt is going to laugh at how the online aspect of Aston Villa is run and it will probably be the highest thing on the list of things to fix.

Anyway, it's QPR tonight and there is a lot of talk that Martin O'Neill is going to be resting players and that it's a potential banana skin, but the bookies have us at 4/9 while QPR are 13/2 - I know where my money is going and the bookies are not usually this wrong - I think my £20 is safe.

Almost finished for the day, but the Emile Heskey rumour has raised it's head again this week, with none other than former Birmingham City manager, Steve Bruce, saying to the press that £10mn would be too good to turn down for Heskey in January.

That has led to speculation that we're going to be making a bid of £10mn. for Heskey in January, when he only has 6 months of his contract left. It isn't going to happen - Wigan might probably accept £1mn. and I think it might be a good bit of business, but it's only paper talk and Steve Bruce is a bigger mug than our previous manager and head of media rolled into one.

Right. I'm off for more coffee and then I'm going to be playing some online football games to waste a bit of time before I have to start working properly.

where did you hear about that media job damian? im thinking of applying for it cus if womeone whos last name is huggins can do it then i definitely can lol, my first step would be to sack Jack Woodward, second would be to take the picture of LAST SEASONS kit release off and replace it with THIS SEASONS kit release pictures, and my 3rd would be to have a direct link from there for avfc blog :D.

mickey...Phil Mepham left at the start of the month, but it was only this Monday that most of the press ran the story. So it begs the question...Why have the likes of the local press, websites such as Vital Villa not known until Monday 22nd..? (Seems this site may have been last to know though...??! :? )

If Claire Huggins is doing this job at the moment, she's piss poor if she's not made it clear to the local press and websites that a change has been made, almost a month after it has..! I thought the likes of J Fear, Damian, and Bill Howell etc were close to the official Villa press people..? With this, it looks like may not be as close as we are led to believe...?

Anyway I would be the ideal person for the job, don't you think....? ;) I would make sure all the juicy bits of gossip get to AVFCBlog first..! :D

Moving onto the CC game tonight.....There's people moaning about the moaners on here...Just think about Sunderland...They bloody win a game and they are still all moaning...What's all that about..? :?

This Claire joker blocked our ten minutes? No way. . . How rude!!! I hope your gave her a piece of your mind Damo!!!! I wondered why i'd never seen it after you said!!!

I'm going to apply for that job, my first step would be to cancel all connections Bill Howell has with Villa, so he cant bullshit, next would be to get David O'Leary to re-decorate my nice new office, i might get him to do the bathroom while i'm at it! Since he's still on the dole!!

Then i'd sort out the official site, make sure those people are interviewing players and not going down the pub!!!

Could someone sort me out a good reference? =D

andyarchitect

it wasn't that we were the last to find out - everyone, or most people, found out at the same time.

lets just hope that the new man/woman that comes in isn't just interested in making the most of what we've got and can see the long term benefit of, dare i say it, root and branch change

QPR tonight,
Villa to win by a large margin with QPR fielding their usual line up. QPR lost to Coventry on Sat and will be nervous of Villa Park and the Villa crowd. No team should be underestimated and certainly not QPR but I think a Villa side with some reserve players who have points to prove too strong for a QPR side dreaming of promotion.

I know it's a boring subject, but coming back to the Mepham thing I notice that Steve Tudgay is actually listed as Head of Media Operations. What was Mephams official title...? Have they filled the role with Mr Tudgay..? Have we missed applying for the job then..? =D

Pax lads, it's only a game of football (I lie). I've said before that we could end up playing extra time tonight. I hope not, but if we do I reckon that we'll win. The longer a game goes on, the more that quality comes into it.

I could do the club media job part time, with one arm tied behind my back whilst standing on my head. I could do with the money as well. An application is winging its way to VP as we speak.

Heskey? Why not? He could do a job for us, he's English, he's big. £5mn max though (in Jan).

Lets not forget the last time we played QPR a Villa official died from an attack by QPR fans. They're a bunch of fcuking scumbags, watch yourselves tonight anybody thats going down.
I also have a horrible feeling we're going to lose as well...don't know what it is but i believe they might catch us out.

Damian

Your acerbic comments about the web site are warranted. I'm trying to find out why Steve Sidwell has gone off the radar so I went to The Official Site to find out. There was an update on his injury dated Aug 28 nearly a month ago. Nothing more.

Can someone tell me if he's back in training? Sorry to be a nuisance - old people are like that.
