Newcastle will be relegated if they appoint David O'Leary and Manchester United concede Premier League title, in September

I know this is the Aston Villa blog, but I really can write about anything I want and these two subjects are at least, sort of connected to Aston Villa. You should consider yourselves lucky I'm not blogging about the work we're doing on my new bathroom. upstairs.

Anyway, why David O'Leary? Well, some of you might not remember this but pretty much as soon as he was appointed I was shouting from the rooftops that he was a useless muppet and while we got a lot of stick for predicting what would happen each season and getting it pretty much spot on, it did take a while for some of you to believe.

If David O'Leary becomes the manager of Newcastle, Newcastle will be relegated. David O'Leary is such a waste of space that the impact of having a new manager, something I call new manager syndrome, won't have the sort of impact at Newcastle as it did at Villa, because most of the players actually know all about him now, so while he may very well have an impact, I don't think it will last any more than three games.

He'll get them relegated and while that wouldn't bother me, Newcastle don't deserve to be playing Championship football. More fool them if they appoint David O'Leary.

Anyway, moving on to Manchester United, because Sir Alex said some nice words about us the other day. Some of the players have apparently admitted that 'falling nine points behind Chelsea with defeat at Stamford Bridge this weekend would make winning the title almost impossible'.

Now, I'm not normally one to talk about title challenges, mostly because I think we're some way off, in fact I'd say we were ten season off at current pace, but if Manchester United lose on Sunday, is it almost impossible for them to win the title back?

I actually don't think so, but I do think they may struggle to win it this season, not because of their start but because of the way Chelsea are playing. Still, it makes for a great Sunday, which begins with us and about that, you'll have my prediction later.

For now, I'm going for lunch, some more coffee and the shops. You'll get a couple of pieces later, one with a request for some help.

i agree about o'leary - but hasn't that sheikh promised to re-appoint keegan if he buiys the club?

with regards to the title and MU, once agian, without quieroz (spelling??) they are performing badly as they did when he went to real madrid....it's all about team (backroom and playing team) and without carlos they are not the same?? food for thought for manc fans i'm sure...

ferguson said the same last year when they had 5 points from 4 games and were 7 points behind i think. Its all mind games he knows its not over.
I think chelsea will win the title but it will go to the last game or 2 with Man U.
As for oleary i so hope he goes to newcastle - you are right they will be relegated in no time or bankrupt or both!!

Spot on ChiefVillan, I've been telling my mates up in Englands 5th city (aka Manchester) all season that they will struggle without Quieroz, he was the real tactical brains behind Utds success, how funny would it be if they finished outside the top 4 (unlikely I know...)

I dont think O'leary will work in the Prem league again. The Championship is the best he can hope for.. If Newcastle are so desperate they appoint him, they might aswell make Dennis(thug) Wise manager.!

The pieces later will hopefully be about the toilet your bathroom upstairs ;)

Anyway, SAF has shown again this season that his tactical abillities are very often questionable.

Nice bit of sarcasm there at the start Damian..Some K coming your way for that one. (sorry you can't have any, it's not fixed) ;) Serious question Damian though..Are we getting the K function back..? :?

Anyway I think talking about your bathroom would be more interesting than talking about O’Dreary..!

If DOL does go to the Toon I’m actually going to start feeling sorry for them. No team should have that forced upon them. Except for the Pool I suppose..! ;)

I liked your little tease about the news later…..Some of them on here will be wetting themselves in anticipation for that..! I can see it now….Please, please Mr Damian I’ll help you (with the sound of lips smacking against an arse in the background) ;)

Damian, are you having the bathroom tiled or painted? Personally i'd go for some nice white tiles with a nice white bathroom suite and maybe a claret and blue shower curtain! =D

Is there anybody on this forum who can give DOL any bit of credit! He has some pedigree did well enough with Leeds and had Villa finish fifth on a shoe string budget!!

I agree umurphy - The position we finished in last year was the same as we had already finished a couple of years before under DOL. (Some folk seem to forget that.)

But I am a MON supporter ..... just saying we did have early success under DOL. And he signed Baros - which was a great signing I thought. Pity he didn't do well under MON. :-(

umurphy,

O'Leary is a muppet! We fluked it all the way that season, yeah so we finished 6th! O'Neill finished 6th too. . .

What i hated about DOL was his excuses, MON tells it like it is, all you got from DOL was "They're an honest bunch of lads". An honest bunch of lads don't get you into Europe David! Determination and Quality get you into Europe!

Lets just go through DOL's list of masterstroke signings: Eric Djemba-Djemba, Mathieu Berson, Milan Baros, Aaron Hughes, Patrik Berger.

Yes there are good points too, but the point i'm trying to make is when you leave like DOL did, people don't tend to remember the good do they? Because he caused all that trouble with players/manager/board! His reputation was wiped! Wiped out quicker than i can eat a double cheeseburger! And thats quick!!

I almost pissed my pants with excitement when I saw DOL linked with newcastle. An ABSOLUTE match made in heaven. Both the club and the manager are a total disaster and laughing stock of the premiership and are soul mates. It's meant to happen. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, Ashley might be hated by newcastle forever, but seriously... imagine the street cred the guy would have for appointing newcaslte and seeing them rot under DOL?

Do it man.

Superfly, it is a valid point. There are loads of examples, for example, Big Sam did a fantastic job at Bolton which Sammy Lee fucked up in 5 minutes the fat ugly scouse! Big Sam goes to toon, it goes tits up and now Big Sam is on the Costa Del Sol in his speedos! And occasionally working for SkySports!

I am no big DOL fan and MON is doing a great job all i am saying is he has had some success, especialy with Leeds. People may say he damaged the club because of the money he spent but he only spent money that was made availibe to him and with very limited resources we finished sixth. MON is building an excellent team but in fairness he is managing a completely different club now than the way it was when DOL managed the club.

While not a fan of O'dreary I can't go along with the constant rubbishing of a manager who nearly got us into Europe and almost to Wembley, finishing 6th in his first season with a budget of 4 million (McCann and Sorensen). Don't forget he also picked up Bouma and Laursen fairly cheap, and I think we were all pretty chuffed when Baros came even if it didn't work out long term.
Seems to me that on a limited budget he did ok and can you blame him for not talking to Tom Ross, who comes out with a load of cliched shite at the best of times. So, he was an anti social bore, BUT HE DIDN'T GET US RELEGATED. !!
If you wan't to talk about crapp Villa managers folks lets discuss the records of Messrs Turner and McNeill, two complete bloody disasters.
