Nigel Reo-Coker picks up the most votes for captain, just

I've got to say I wasn't surprised by the result, but I was surprised at how close it was. Reo-Coker got the vote but only by 2.9% or to be a little more specific, by only 37 of the 1285 people that voted.
Personally, I went for Reo-Coker. He has captained England at U21 level and also captained West Ham and every time I've seen him play, he's always been vocal.
I think it's definitely what we need right now on the pitch and he's no stranger to the responsibility, but with Martin Laursen a very close second you've got to fancy that the decision might not be so easy for Martin O'Neill also.
You can click here to see the results but to summarise, Nigel Reo-Coker got 592 votes and Martin Laursen picked up 555.
In last place was Zat Knight with 11, which was just 0.9% of the votes and his mother has emailed in wanting to know why she can only vote once a day.

Knight has only played recently because of Davis.
I think Reo-Coker and Laursen are both very good candidates. I could'nt see Zat being given the armband, i just don't think he's captain material. But MON will make the right choice and we could be surprised and it may be a new signing that becomes captain (very unlikely).
I dont know why we even signed him. theres way better defenders out there. Lets just hope we get ferdinand. We wont have to worry about knight then lol
If and when we sign Sidwell I can't see Choker even making the starting line up ? "vocal" whats the hell has that got to do with being captain surely he also has to be able to lead by example . The guy talks a great game but can't even trap a ball !!!
NRC is a top man, watch out for him next season!
id go for laursen because i can see him being a permanent first choice in the starting 11, but i cant see reo-coker being guarenteed a first team place for every game next season.
both rio coker and knight cant be captain, knight plays like he dont care and coker gets stuck in but cant pass to save his life.laurson skipper all the way!!!!

Hokey cokey, I can't believe it, it's like a zimbabwe election!!! Curtis or Laursen all the way, hokey cokey wouldn't even come in to consideration if it were me.
reo-coker is a good leader but does anyone actually think hes good enough 2 b captain i mean if we got huddlestone will reo even play with huddlestone sidwell in the middle i dont think so but i reckon oneill loves him 2 much he cant pass or attack

Barry and Young, maybe Gabby and maybe laursen These players could go to the big 4 and most likely do very well

Your all mad, reo-coker would be a great captain yet i cant see him pushing foir a sport if barry/huddlestone and sidwell are here. But i dont admit hes rubbish. he does all the nitty gritty stuf hes fild in both rb and rm for us this year and done a great job. he keeps the teams confidence us and keeps em goin. he kept us in some games and took other teams players out of it.

I don't know why NRC gets so much stick. He does the job MON asks of him & has made a big difference to the team since he came in. His best work so far has been how he breaks up attacks and turns over possession to Villa. With Petrov playing deeper he gave away fewer free kicks because he had someone behind him to cover. His benefit to the side is less obvious than the wingers and strikers who are getting everyone's attention in the new look MON Villa but NRC has made as big a difference as anyone and deserves credit.
Laursen is very focused on his game and doesn't communicate a lot to the other players & the captaincy might not suit him or his style of play. NRC is the natural captain.

I would have to say i would not be impressed if NRC was given the captaincy. I am still unsure about his abilities, dont get me wrong i think he is a good plaver but i do not feel he is good enough to be in the first team. Martin Laursen plays with his heart on his shirt and always gives 100%, he is also very vocal. NRC would make a good future captain but unlike Laursen he does not have the eperience. Yes he captained at U21 level but i do not think he is ready for that job yet.
