David O'Leary has been talking the talk again, this time in The Sun newspaper.
He's figured out that the club needs a change and with a bit of luck he'll come to the conclusion that he's the one that needs to go before it can move forward. Afterall, he's had three seasons and we're actually further behind where we were when he came.
He told The Sun ?But I am proud to have kept the club in the Premiership because since Christmas my one and only aim has been to make sure we were safe.
?I don?t want to rub other people?s noses in it, but everywhere I have gone in the city this week I have noticed everybody is flying because we will be the only Midlands team in the Premier League next season.
?There is a great mood among people in the street that this has given them a real lift.
?I never thought we would go down. But I was worried during the January transfer window when Birmingham brought in three players while I had to send a valuable player like Eirik Bakke back to Leeds.
?I knew then the rest of the season was going to be a struggle for us.
?This team should be doing better. But I want to freshen this squad up and bring in hungry players next season.
?I sense that a freshness is needed in the camp without a doubt.
?A shake-up is needed and there is nothing better than bringing people in who are young and hungry to do that.?
What O'Leary fails to understand is we've had enough. The fans will let him know on Sunday and the fans will let Ellis know over the next few weeks.
Aston Villa have frozen season ticket prices to incentivise current holders, if they don't get the numbers they expect then O'Leary will soon be off, of that there is no doubt.
The real concern is why Ellis is almost allowing him another season, it is clear that the manager is a fool who couldn't manage a five a side team who hadn't lost in 20 years. Six full seasons as a manager and every single season he has finished in a worse position, after spending more money!
