Scouring the headlines for Villa news is always a hit and miss
affair,
but whilst delving through mostly reheated and dead links that have
been cooked up during the week that has just passed - I stumbled
across a particularly bitter O'Leary interview with The Daily Mail.
Dreary clearly states that MON did no better than him and he should
have been the one sat alongside Randy spending the fortune, I mean
what a worrying thought - this was the man who helped spend Leeds into
financial ruin. I don't want to focus too much on this story but just
wanted to say 'keep dreaming David' (go to Daily Mail website for more
Capello and Jose Mourinho love me so i must be great related Dreary
mirth).
Dug in on the rumours front line the most incredible (dummy) hand
grenade thrown by the press over the weekend was that MON once again
is trailing Robbie Keane, yes that's Robbie - 'Spurs is my spiritual
home... why did i ever move to Liverpool' Keane, a player that they
sold and bought back at a loss (or so is reported). Someone somewhere
is either very bored or very stupid, as him moving to Villa is about
as likely as Andy Murray winning the Wimbledon......(wait for it)
ladie's doubles title.
Other rumours attributed to the club suggest we haven't ruled out a
move for Owen, but midfield is the priority (funny i thought replacing
Laursen was the priority) adding that Gabby is so great we probably
won't need Owen! And on the defensive front, links to Sol Campbell
have been claimed and then denied within 24hrs, along with overcooked
links to Stoke target Obafemi Martins.
A possible 5mil move for 29yr old central midfielder Tim Borowski from
Bayern Munich seems a bit more likely and yet also without any real
foundation presently, along with Hleb who i thought had already denied
links to a Villa move??? Apparently we may try and hi-jack Real
Valladolid goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo's move to Atletico Madrid, which
wouldn't be a bad move but seriously do we really need a third
goalkeeper that urgently in the great scheme of things?
We also want US midfielder Michael Bradley but as with every player we
are linked to Everton and or Spurs, Sunderland, West Ham will all
fight us on the beaches (yawn). So expect every player we've ever been
linked with to also be linked with moves to those club as agents and
bored journo's attempt to kick up some interest. Just like Friar Good
John's Son from Barca (weak gag). The unfounded rumour that 20 clubs
including us have agreed 8.5mil for Huddlestone is still in
circulation, if we had - agreed a fee we would have a 'Villa have been
given permission to speak to...' announcement on the site.
Shorey has announced he can play midfield (phew eh!) and Bouma has
denied reports that he will retire - which is a relief although his
comeback seems a while off still, but i can't wait to see him back in
the shirt.
I also saw the headline - Villa defender Davies: 'Michael Jackson
passing incredibly sad' which i thought was a bit harsh as some of his
passing last season wasn't that good either!

Man City are apparently trying to roger our chances of signing Kyle Naughton also the swines!
dont like our chances of getting borowski.. he is edging towards a return to werder bremen.. LINK
for those of you too lazy to use the link and ctrl+F borowski, here is what it says.. "Germany international Tim Borowski is set to return to Werder Bremen after the midfielder met with Bremen's sporting director to discuss a move transfer. "There was a good initial discussion. The move is really interesting for me," Borwoski told Kreiszeitung Syke"
im going on a holiday for a week starting tomoro.. i wonder if when i come back anything will have changed.. im giving myself odds of 50:1 that we actually sign someone in that time. any other would be bookies care to make me a better offer? haha
Would be quality if we bought Veloso - seems unlikely if Arsenal and Man City are sniffing round - but fingers crossed we are at least trying.
Wouldn't bother looking at all these links. MON wouldn't have done anything in regards getting numbers in as he's a last min man! Moost of these players we've been linked with wouldn't come to Villa unless nobody else goes for them. I'm sorry to say but Villa are going to be developing team and a selling team from now on. We don't have a scouting system even though Villa say we do.
We had the chance to progress last year which we didn't take but also MON has to take a big part of the blame. He knew Laursen was crook and didn't do anything about it. He knew Gaz Baz was off and didn't address it in case it happened sooner. We all knew Bouma was crook. We all knew Knight is sh*t and more importantly we all knew the team would tire with a thread bare squad and one so young.
So MON and Villa need to put their hands up and say we were poor. They've got a last chance to show that they mean business and get serious numbers in (That means good players)or it might start ringing alarm bells.
maybe if we still had oleary in charge we wouldnt always copy everton and go after the same players they always do we might aswell just have david moyes in charge....although i would love to have moyes in charge he is the best manager in the prem behind sir alex.
ive heard that were in for tuncay sanli i mean good player but we also need another striker to play along side him i know carew is a class act but with heskey and carew we have just one option i would much prefer to buy a proven goal scorer if there is such a play and maybe play gabby on the wings becuase what i have seen the psat few seasons he is definatly not a striker.
Robbie Keane would be graet and MON has to start bying quality players now.
MON BY PLAYERS SOON. I am fed up with disapointing transfer windows evrey year. people say you are ment to be a great manager show is then. 2 wins in 15 games that crap and not a good manager. He has to strat buying quality soon. 6 transfer windows of hell ecept from three or four players.Buy Robbie Keane, Downing, Jenas, Hleb, Manual Jurdo, kyle Naughton and Steven Taylor.
i agree
Every year same old story...no signings, frustrating or what. I came home from work the other day and said to the other half "Villa signed anyone today" she looked at me in disbelief and said don't be so stupid "it's not the last day of the transfer window today". The worrying thig is that she doesn't know anything about football but even she knows how Villa and MON work.
