O'Leary really has to go for the sake of Aston Villa

Sunday, 08 January 06, 10:57 AM · Comments (0)

Aston Villa are playing some really poor football at the moment and a few good results seems to be glossing this fact over for the majority but what some also fail to understand is we're not going to get relegated and we'll probably finish mid-table but the sad truth of the matter is this is the most we can ever hope for under this manager.

That is the problem and it simply isn't good enough for Aston Villa.

We all know his managerial statistics - finished in a worse league position than the one before - and we all know about how much he spent, or should we say wasted, to achieve this.

The reason I'm saying this today is because I've failed to find a good match report from yesterday about how Aston Villa played football and most of them seem to be confirming my view - Aston Villa are not convincing.

My issue is this is his third season and we're already 15 points off Champions League and we've still got 17 matches to play.

If you're an Aston Villa fan and you're happy sitting in mid-table under a manager who is clearly useless, has no regard for the supporters and lies to us then you shouldn't be reading this as you've got exactly you want.

If you're like Michael Neville and believe that Champions League football is achievable in three seasons then you've got to sign the petition to get O'Leary out because he's as good as had his three seasons and Champions League is not going to happen - it's not statistics telling us this (although they are following the predicted downward trend) it's the average football.

It's all about what you're willing to accept for Aston Villa and if my opinion isn't one you share then that's your right but under David O'Leary we'll achieve nothing and I don't accept that.
