O'Neill wants Kuyt, Gallas, Petrov, Martins and Diarra

No doubt we're going to be linked with every decent player around at the moment and in the future but we're not going to be speculating for the sake of speculating as it will take too much time and I don't think we're going to see another Chelsea.

In Randy Lerner we have someone that understands it's not just about splashing the cash but building a team with the right manager. Martin O'Neill also understands that to be successful you have to develop from the ground up.

We're linked today with Gallas of Chelsea, Petrov of Celtic, Diarra of Lyon, Martins of Inter Milan and Kuyt of Feyenoord. I'd like to add Owen Hargreaves of Bayern Munich simply because he dropped hints yesterday that he's close to joining a Premiership club and I'd love to see him at Villa, isn't that how rumours start anyway?

Let's be linked with everyone but let everyone know that we're going to do this properly and not just throw money at players in the hope of buying success. With Martin O'Neill and Randy Lerner we have a pair of people who actually know how to achieve success.

Still, it would be nice to see some of those names in claret and blue next season.
