Porto demand €20 million for Jose Bosingwa

Wednesday, 22 August 07, 12:41 PM · Comments (12)

FC Porto have told Aston Villa they will have to pay €20mn. for right back Jose Bosingwa. Just in case you don't work on an exchange floor for a bank that equates to £13.5mn.

Martin O'Neill is desperate for a right back and he has chased Bosingwa ever since we first told you about it in early July.

If he wants him and sees him as part of his 'long term plan' for the club, I personally don't understand why he doesn't pay. However, it's not my money. Actually, it's not his either!

It's not just because it's not his money, but because there are no apparent "restrictions" on spending if the manager thinks he needs the player. Why he is not willing to spend the money baffles me.

Jose Bosingwa is available if the club pay the €20mn. asking price. If they don't pay it they wont get him, not unless Martin O'Neil finally breaks them, which I suspect won't happen for less than £10mn.

Despite saying what I've said about Bosingwa since July, there is also another right back that the manager has been watching and we'll tell you about that in an hour or so.

It's likely not to happen however and we'll explain why later, but be warned, it's not nice reading.

Rosenior or hoyte at arsenal... can't think of anyone else who's been mentioned as a target. could be gareth southgate, coming back to the villa to lead us from unpreferred right back position.

Obafemi Martins can be had for 13 million pounds, and Everton has agreed to a fee of 11.25 million for Yakubu. Both of them are young players. Is a right back worth more than either of them?

And doesn't Bosingwa's contract with Porto end after this season? If so, I'm not sure why Porto doesn't accept what they can get now.

Nuno Gomes would flop in England, big time. I remember him with Fiorentina in Italy, he struggled. How about Johan Elmander of Toulouse..

I think its Johnson at Cheslea, I dont think he will solve villa's long term RB problem Personally I would to see Hoyte come to villa. Anyway on to something else .I read that spurs are linked with Requlme ,now thats the type of player that would get the pulses raceing. what do ye think?

Yes he is a good player, got the winner against Lyon the other week, and someone who can play off the front man
