Possibly the best news all season

Milan Baros signing for Villa was great news. News that the Russians were coming, albeit a very big rumour, was great news but for me possibly the best news all season is that Liam Ridgewell has signed until 2008.

The only thing that could have topped that would have to be that he signed a longer contract.

I'm convinced Liam Ridgewell is a future England captain and given the right guidance, coaching and man-management we may well see his full potential a lot sooner than anyone could have expected.

He's still got quite a bit to learn but he has some experienced players around him and plenty of time to learn.

Every time he plays he learns a little more and playing against some of the best strikers in the world week in week out can't be bad for the lad.

Rio and Terry are the players to emulate and I think given a couple more seasons he'll be challenging for an England call up.
