This is another quick one as there are a few beers lined up for this evening and I want to get away fairly early tonight - I need to spend a little time convincing the wife.
Straight to the match and Wigan have surprised me as of late. No doubt Mr Potato Head will take some of the credit but I'll put it down to a scientific explanation; new manager syndrome.
They've done Newcastle and Blackburn at home in the last two matches but my local side could beat Newcastle at the moment and Blackburn have been having a horrid time of late - it's not often you have a player score a hat-trick and you still lose.
The thing is, it's not going to last and I wouldn't be surprised if it all stopped on Saturday when we go play them. I think he'll keep them up as he's going to get his players working but with little funds available to him in January, I suspect it will be a struggle.
Villa on the other hand will be going into this match full of confidence. I suspect it will be an unchanged starting eleven because the Zat Knight red card appeal should be successful, however, if it's not I'd be very happy with Curtis Davies starting alongside Martin Laursen.
Mr prediction; away win and a much needed three points for us.
To my bets; my banker and base bet for Saturday is Spurs, Chelsea and Portsmouth. A £10 bet would pay out £33.70. I'm calling it my base bet because the next two £5 bets have those three plus the others.
The first £5 bet that would pay £240.14 also has West Ham and Villa. The second that would pay £128.87 includes Villa, United and Arsenal.
That's it for now. I'm off to catch the last train to clarksville.

Crap prediction mate. Please take note of the following - Wigan will BEAT Villa.
;D Dream on Laticus...what planet are you on. Steve Bruce as manager....You'll have the blues alright. 0-3 Aston Villa :D
don't think so m8..wigan, small, crap club..with no fans...don't deserve to be in the prem for me! The only reason they get any attendence atall is because the gracious people of wigan who attend the jjb of a saturday think they are turing up for a rugby league match!
I'll be surprised if knights appeal is successful. If it isn't i think Mon will stick Mellberg in the center with Laursen and Davies as RB. Because Wigan are team that attack through the middle and only the occasional pop down the wing. Villa to win 2-1 p.s watch bramble fall over as Gabby speeds past him.
The "New Manager" syndrome will have expired by Saturday. To be replaced by the "Potato Factor", which roughly means back to situation normal. Villa to win comfortably.
