Record third Player Of The Month award for Ash

Ashley Young has become the first player to win 3 Player Of The Month awards in a year after being named Player Of The Month for December.
I've read some peoples comments on various websites who say he is average. This just proves they clearly don't know what they are talking about - and that is a dig at them.that is a dig at them.
Those that don't watch Aston Villa won't realise how influential Young is. He has pace, trickery, skill and can whip a curling, pin-point cross into the box on his left or right feet.
I was pleased when we signed Young but like most I was quite apprehensive about paying nearly £10m for an unknown striker. Since then he has achieved more than anyone could've expected. He's been converted to a winger (if you see the press refer to him as a striker it's because they haven't done their homework) and has played on both flanks for us.
The introduction of James Milner has meant that he and Young can swap wings in a game and thus cause all sort of problems, particularly if the opposing managers thinks his right-back may have got Young under control and then sees him switch to the right and cause his left-back all manner of trouble.
Martin O'Neill also won Manager Of The Month for December after we won four and drew one.
On another subject, the transfer market is looking slow for quality players - unless you're one half of Manchester - and I'm not optimistic we'll add anyone to our squad of any real bite. I think we may get a squad player in and I expect Marlene won't be leaving if we don't get another striker in to replace him.
Damian will be about later to let you know his prediction for Saturday's visit to Sunderland. I could give the game away now and tell you he'll predict an away win - which I know will be a shock to many of you - but I know Damian and he's not the sort of person to predict a win nearly every single week of the season
Hopefully it'll be three points and Arsenal won't pick up three at Hull, but I expect they will.

He's our very own Ronaldo, everything good involves him and he's got a brilliant attitude. People may complain that he dives, but I feel I see him get up and dust himself down far more often than not.
3 player of the month's in 1 calendar year, 1st player to ever do it! And Stewart Downing gets in the England team ahead of him...
Hes a match winner and difference maker and i cant imagine watching our boys if he or Gabby were not part of the team. I think that you judge a player by how the team would be without him. Man U would be ok still if they lost Ronaldo, maybe not top spot, but they would still be top 4. Us without Ash and we would be lucky to finish 10th. Just my opinion, but thats how influential i think he is for us. Thats why i still think its important to add a McGeady or Lennon type....Ash needs a rest, same with Gabby. When you are a marked man, teams try and shut you down and make it more difficult for you. This makes it necessary to give them a break more often. We really do need another wide player and a decent striker who we can rely on for impact and goals up front....i also think we should get an attacking minded midfielder still, although not as badly as the other two positions i mentioned....
He's a cracking little player, if their is a criticism it's that he goes into his shell if his first couple of attempts at passing the full back are unsuccessful, and he's yet to have a mega game against the big boys. No reason why he should want to go anywhere else if we make the top 4.
Bent would be a good signing, a natural goalscorer.
The more I think about it, the more I think the Darren Bent rumour might have some legs to it. He seems to fit the bill for a MON type of signing. Only question is will he pay over the odds.
there is talk of a 14mil bid going in for Bent and that arry might do a deal for less but taking Reo-coker (i dont think so) or Nicky "surely someone thinks i am good" Shorey going the other way.

quality player- think "villa 2-0 chelsea" last season, he had a cracker and set up one of my favourite villa goals ever. i still havent worked out how he did his cheeky chip on the wing.

Ash is gonna be a massive player in years to come, i went to the bolton game where we won 4-2, this is the 1st game ive seen him play in at VP, (i dont get to go that often).
i was in awe,he ripped the bolton defense to bits......
gabby and him have such a connection, its like their minds are linked, against west brom, ash stole the ball from them in our goal area had one little look at the other wing, seen gabby, put his head down and ran like the clappers, he never looked back at gabby until he crossed the ball into the bolton box, of course gabby was right there to recieve it,
awesome players, villa are the best team to watch at the min, nearly every game is exciting.
he defo deservers that award, lets hope he can win it again before the season is out
It's amazing that he's done this because I am not sure even Ronaldo was player of the month 3 times last year. What a fantastic player and proof that if you know what you are doing, January can be a very good time to buy players.
All that said he is starting dive some and I don't like it. I don't want him to get like $tevie MBE, Ronaldo, Drogba and the other notorious cheats! Same goes for Gabby. They are both good enough that they don't need to dive.
got to say Ashley young was worth every penny, and well Gabby is most defs improving by the game!
