The BBC have reported today that we've put in a £7m bid for Nigel Reo-Coker. There's no source so I'm not sure how positive this is, but if the BBC have made an article out of it there must be some truth.
A good West Ham mate of mine was chuffed when he heard we were after him because he seems to think he can't pass, shoot or tackle, but then maybe after what Reo-Coker's said I wouldn't be too happy either.
I still think there are better players around than Reo-Coker, but he is only 23 and is playing for the England under 21's tonight. And yes, I did double check those facts!
I'd like us to go for Barton more than Reo-Coker and Sneijder even more, but with youth on his side Reo-Coker has potential.
From what I've heard Reo-Coker has been stalling on a move to Spurs because he wants United or Arsenal to go in for him so I wouldn't be surprised if he turned us down to stay in London or move to one of the big four. If any one of them wanted him that is...

Watching the U21 game now, Reo-Coker is involved in everything, he's a midfield dynamo, what a signing he'd be on this form.
Looks well worth every penny of the £7m offered.
Good stuff. Premiership can be a different kettle of fish, but it's a good sign.
I think he's a decent box to box midfielder. Strong, reasonably quick, good work rate, think he's be a decent signing. I like players that will work hard and keep going for the full 90, like Gareth Barry, and Reo-Coker will do that at least.
Would love him to come. Alot of people seem to be badmouthing him and saying he is rubbish over on the BBC boards. I think he is a good player and young so he will go with our other youth.
We have got an England under-21 fetish going on. Cahill, Young, Ridgewell, Agbonlahor, Milner, Reo-Coker...
Talk of the devil, Reo-Coker's just scored for the under 21s!
Reo-Coker's looking good tonight for the U-21's. Really hope he signs for us and rejects the likes of Newcastle and Spurs if they match our bid. Great to see Ashley Young named man of the match in tonight's game he's played really well. Hope to see more performances like this from him next season! Also a latest transfer rumour that really excites me is the possible transfer of young German defender Rer Mertersacker joining Villa from Werder Bremen. I thought he was fantastic for Germany in last year's world Cup and he's held in high regard over in Germany. I think he's only 22 and believe that he is a world class defender in the making.
He would be a quality signing for villa. he's young and has lots of potiential, west ham are stupid to let him leave. according to skt sports we're after Nakamura from celtic, he's proved his worth in sctoland. but whether he could adapt to the premiership is another matter. i think that if we go for nakamura, we won't get Boruc, so im predicting that o'neil will sign Craig Gordon instead.
Great signing, he really is a great player and im chuffed hes coming to the Villa.
his agent said on wm he is coming to villa as soon as clubs agree a fee, dont know where you get your info from luke but your talking crap.you keep saying they are better players than nrc but who and how much.your west ham buddy is proably hacked off with him cos he asked for move
The top 4 don't need him. He could play for Liverpool i think but they've got enough class in midfield and our bringing in more. Man Utd. Just signed 3 midfielders, Arsenal have tons of youngster midfielders coming through and Chelsea are too big for him.
Definetly a good buy for us, we're a step-up from 16th, we can offer him the wages he wants and West Ham don't want him. That should be good enough for him to come to us. He'd be good alongside Petrov for sure.
Asked whether Reo-Coker would be interested in a move to Villa Park, his agent Tony Finnigan said: "I'd go one further than that - he will be signing for Villa once that bid is accepted."
=)
bwules_771, my article pretty much says my mate said that because of what he said about West Ham!
You saying there's no one better than Reo-Coker? You must be having a laugh. What about Sneijder? Joey Barton? Come on, where's your ambition?
I really don;t think Joey Barton is better the Reo-Coker.
Newcastle are welcome to him....
Sneijder next. Barry-Sneijder-Reo-Coker-Young. Rock on!!!!
I have a bad feeling about this one. i think Reo coker is using us to sell himself to a bigger club. The way he is waiting until the U21 Championships is over seems abit fishy and i think he is hoping that this talk of him signing for us will get a top 4 club to come in for him.
Hope we do get him. He is class and with our other youth would be amazing (definatly in a few years) Someone on another board said that young was over rated i dont think he is over rated at all. he was worth every penny of the £9.65M as he is a great player now and in the future will be an england regular and if we ever sell him i think we will make at least £5M profit.
I just cant see it myself. He does f*ck all and certainly isnt worth £7m. Id much rather we were buying Parker or Barton
Parker has signed for West Ham, and Barton is going to sign for Newcastle, neither of whom I'd like to see at Villa Park. And, seeing as we haven't had a bid accepted yet, how can you possibly claim that NRC are waiting until after the U21 Championship? Also, read up on his agent's comments.
He has gone on record saying that he is waiting till after the U21 Championships to make any decsion on his future. And his agent is making comments like he will be signing once the bid is accepted. I think he is saying those things to get other clubs interested.
Reo-Coker's Mr 25% is clearly hoping for a big club to come in so he can get a big pay day. It's evidence of what some agents are doing to football.
Nigel Reo-Coker doesn't get on with Alan Curbishley - the main reason being that anyone who knows a bit about football has seen that AC has had his eye on Scott Parker as a central midfielder and captain since he arrived at Upton Park. Why question Nigel Reo-Coker? You don't get awarded the captaincy of the England U21's for nothing, and they are a successful group.
Not only that, the lad is used to training and playing with Gary Cahill, Ashley Young and Gabby. Looks like decent sense to me.
My feeling has always been that MON should look at the England U21's as his recruitment ground in building the Bright Future.
hi luke i did not say there were nt better players than nrc you said wes snide the dutchman whos to say we wont sign both?my point was you were negative b4 nigel signs so my point was give him a chance to prove you right or wrong.my ambition is to win prem cl 4 villa now we have proper chairman manager.up the villa!!
