Ridgewell scores again as Villa reserves draw at Boro

Villa reserves draw Boro reserves
Middlesbrough 2 Villa 2
Liam Ridgewell just can't stop scoring and if there was ever any doubt about who will partner Olof Mellberg if Martin Laursen can't make the start of the season I think David O'Leary may have had his mind made up after tonight's performance and pre-season.

Ridgewell is still young and learning and apart from the stupid red card last season should be happy with his overall development.

The decision is however very firmly in the hands of O'Leary and with Cahill at Villa Park for what looks like the season it's probably going to be a little harder than he had expected a few months ago.

Villa drew with Boro 2-2 after leading 2-1 by the 29th minute. Gabriel Agbonlahor equalised after Boro's opener on 9 before Ridgewell scored in the 29th minute.

Boro levelled on 52 minutes and after reading the report it seems like Villa were unlucky not to grab all three points.

However, it is a valuable point away from home for the Villa reserves in the first match of the season.

A full match report can be read on the official site.
