Round up: For me it's still O'Leary that has to go

I took a few days off from writing anything on here simply because it was so depressing after the season we've just had and I know that O'Leary is in Dubai spending our hard earned and pretty much doing nothing in terms of Aston Villa.

There has been lots of talk about players coming and players going and it worries me that all the players mentioned are the wrong ones and all this summer is going to allow is O'Leary another botched summer.

Apparently Doug Ellis is stalling on the sale of Berson to Auxerre because he wants the full ?2mn. back that has been invested and spent on the player; I don't blame him. O'Leary chased the player like a dog on heat for months and then never gave him his chance. It's not just about what happens in training it's also about what happens on the pitch. The irony of it all is when Berson did play he looked a very good player.

Milan Baros will apparently not comment on talk linking him to Monaco. Anyone remember him not commenting on leaving Liverpool last summer? Baros will be subject to several rumours this summer especially if he has a good World Cup but I think he's the last player we should sell and the one we should build a team around. He might not run and run but if you give him an opportunity I'd far rather have him with the ball than Angel or Phillips.

A rumour surfaced yesterday that Luke Moore could be heading to Fulham. If this were true then O'Leary deserves to be sacked for even considering it. The player is young and based on his games to goal ratio last season he and Baros could be a real threat if they are given a proper run together. Sell him and you might as well call an end to next season or any hope for Aston Villa FC.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has signed a contract extension and Liam Ridgewell and Gary Cahill are expected to this week. These players along with Moore, Gardner and Davis are the future of Aston Villa; let them go and it proves we've not got ambition.

The players that Aston Villa should be looking to offload are Angel and Phillips. Both are too old and past their best and even though I've got a lot of time for Angel it would probably be best for him to play somewhere else as he's reached a comfort level at Villa.

What I think it comes down to is the manager. If we had Arsene Wenger and Arsenal took David O'Leary I can fairly confidently say that in two seasons we'd be above Arsenal.

You've got to give O'Leary his first season where he has very little effect on how the team plays but in his second it will go wrong and by then a manager like Wenger would have had full effect with our kids and we'd be in Europe probably challenging for the Champions League.

It comes down to O'Leary and everyone at Villa now know this. Season ticket sales are down and Ellis is targeting for a top 10 finish when in a managers 4th season we should be targeting Champions League. Everyone knows it and the only thing that will make the fans change their mind is O'Leary going, so come on Doug; one more time for Aston Villa.

O'Leary has to go for Aston Villa to move forward. We've got some great players and some great youngsters that need a manager that can develop them and get the team to play better football and not just hit and hope. It will happen eventually I'm just baffled as to why it hasn't happened yet.

I'm taking another week off as I suspect nothing will happen but if it does I'll be back.
