What are we now? LA Galaxy fans moaning because we haven't won the Burger King Series even though we have Davey McBeckhamshire on the books? We are Aston Villa and we have the best manager in the country on our books.
If we had Ronaldo (the fat one we like, not the one that keeps scoring against us) on the books and we were getting these sort of results, then we could complain that he didn't have the proper players around him. We don't have that, we have a squad that was barely good enough to stay up last season.
That same squad provided us with 6 points over Blues, but they were relegation fodder. I'm sorry Mr. O'Dreary but I still can't even give the credit for that to you. Those victories were obviously down to the players, who had had enough of losing points to that wonderful family orientated club (soft porn parasites) who unfortunately happen to be our neighbours.
I know I'll get slagged because MBNA have probably turfed thousands of debt ridden people out of their homes, but still I'm sorry, there's no dignity in a dildo salesman. Anyway, the fact of the matter is that none of that matters, we are far better now than ever before.
Anyone who has a passing interest in football, and I don't just mean Chelsea fans, appreciates the value of Martin O'Neill. His record speaks for itself and this man has the knowledge, the experience, the power, the sheer temerity to push the Villa on.
Oh sorry, I forgot to mention the special bit, because he is special, no-one can put their finger on it, but O'Neill's got it in spades. It's that thing that separates the Ferguson and the Wenger from Jose & the Rafa, he's got it, oh yes. Forget Gregory, Taylor, Atkinson, we are talking Saunders time.
Rome was not built, blah blah, but it is true. Write this season off if you want. It really doesn't matter, look at what we've got now and expect from August. Don't forget, the biggest stumbling block to our progression has gone, all due respect to Mr. Ellis but now we have proper backing for a world class manager.
I appreciate that due to Chelsea's Roubles we now live in an instant-impact culture with regards to football, but they are the exception. Manchester United were absolutely awful a year into Alex's revolution, it took him a few seasons to become brilliant, and Jose with all his spending power, has proved recently that he will never be in his league.
There is no reason to question or be upset by recent events, our club is in the very best of hands. Martin has a plan, he always does, he did on Saturday, it didn't work out because he hasn't got the players to realise it yet. He will have those players, anything he wants he will get and he will put them to good use, but it is a matter of time.
In a way, I'm happy that O'Neill hasn't gone overboard and shot us up to 4th at this point in the season, as he is the only candidate to take over at Old Trafford. Thankfully, I believe he will commit himself to us, Aston Villa.
It will take time, c'mon it's football. How about that little winker at Man Utd, player of the season for me, how long? How about Drogba, under a lot of pressure, turned it round at last? Was God McGrath an instant hit? Don't panic!
I console myself that everything is right in my world as regards the Villa of late, regardless, and it shall be so. How can anyone who has the slightest knowledge of the game complain, considering the sh*te we as Villa fans have had to put up with? It will happen, be patient.
If our new American Chairman wanted to make a gesture toward a strange European sport he admired he would have invested into the MLS circus which now attracts the likes of 'Soccer boy' Beckham. He didn't, he's serious, he is patient, he is no fool, he has the best manager to give funds to and I believe he will.
Don't forget, these are unusual times for the Villa, don't be narrow minded. It's time to forget about how previous managers have progressed or failed with what they have or acquired. Now is the time to be patient, sit back and wait. C'mon you know it will happen, just not yet.
In the meantime enjoy the fact that Mr. Ellis has handed our club over to a proper man of means who will support the best man in the land to make our club compete with the best in the land, and hopefully abroad. But please don't expect all of this by next Wednesday or you will show a complete lack of understanding of our game and be sadly disappointed.
As you can probably tell by now I'm a big fan of O'Neill, but I'll tell you this, I don't live in Brum any more and everyone I know, be it a fan of Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Toon etc. are all very, very green.
If Martin was a cartoon character then it would be Yogi, cos he's smarter than the average bear.
Up the Villa!!

I heard rumours that he was going to Leeds, in a straight swap with Dennis Wise. Or was that a dream? I get confused sometimes.
If he was that smart why dosent he play with 2 up front at home ??? stop kidding yourself givin MON the villa is like giving Schumacker a skoda
Nice motors now, better look, drive well with a decent engine (It's a complete overhaul, same name, different brand)- bit like Chelsea. Have you any idea of what the word change means?
That was the point of the article, I know Villains aren't used to it, but the caterpillar is growing pubes! Stop living the past pal, we're on our way.
O'Neill has not been given the Villa, it's the other way round. It will become O'Neill's Villa, understand?
Go back to 1992 and tell a Scouser and a Manc that Liverpoo won't win a Premiership title in the next 14 years and ManUre will win 8!!
As i say, things change in football. Be PREPARED!
Up that Villa!
