I would've thought we'd be keeping O'Halloran as 4th choice CB for now, since he did get called up to the Irish senior team, begin training with the first-team and get a new wage in just a year! Definetly a player for the future, along with Stieber, McGurk and possibly Erik Lund or The Bellon Brothers. Still, it's only scouting a match, Villa have watched a good 100 players in the past 4 months, as have most teams.

Spurs are looking at Riquelme..the bloke is a top player and has played his football for Villarreal over the past 2 seasons, hardly one of the Spanish giants..but I guess he's too big a name for Villa - again..10 days to go and still not a sound from Villa Park..

I for one feel cheated by Villa. We get told about all these great new palyers we are going to be signing and when the time comes we fail misserably.
I would love to see us sign the likes of Riquelme as he is total class and would have changed Sundays draw into a win. If he is up for £10mill can't we give them Petrov as part of the deal, I know which I would prefer to have in my team.
Somewhere this summer has gone all wrong - I don't think we can keep on saying its the new TV money making prices stupid - we all new about this money over 12 months ago. NickMcD please tell me your lying?petrov has been the biggest let down especially given the fee we have ever signed. Im not just moaning I genuinely think hes out of his depth and only gets away with it because he hides and doesnt actually do anything, therefore doesnt get noticed. Its like a waste of a man feel like we have 10. he cannot tackle at all and can only pass if given 10mins to think about it. every player should be equal and if not performing in a game anyone can be brought off and anyone can be dropped.

i stuck up for villa for a long time but now get ever more frustrated and disappointed by the day. The players we are linked with linger around for weeks and then we never get them.surely you know if you can get someone within a week of trying and if they wont come try for someone else. surely its a case of a fee being accepted or not; or a player agreeing terms or not. if its a case of another team having to get someone else in first then surely the deal should be agreed in readiness and we were told about it.

I want ambition to be shown not just talked about, reo-coker is an excellant young player and harewood a good squad player who gives us something different. id like us over next 10 days to go all out for players like yakubu, defoe, bosingwa, davies, matt taylor etc. If we are after hoyte or rosenior(very over-rated) ill cry! We were linked strongly with players like koumas, luke young, gordon, bellamy, etc all good players who just passed by without a murmour from us who I expected us to try and sign so then you presume oniell was confident he had someone else he wanted. otherwise these would have been very good additions.

i think thats the point ... 2 games in; no right back and only 19 [players in the squad after all the promises of world class signings and more players than last season

nobody is really moaning about the football or suggesting anything about individuals at the club its just that some, a growing number, are starting to feel conned

while i believe it will all change by spet 1st, because the club told us world class signings are coming, right now, two games in - it's not very 'prepared' as you coudl look at it as 5 points dropped

West Ham are buying anything that moves, all 'top class' as you put it. I remember Leeds Utd buying anything that moved...... Mon can more than compete with the likes of Hammers and the fact he hasn't come out saying we are after this that and the other for me is positive. He has Cloughie running through his veins and look at how he approached things, confident and assured is his ability.

I think Riquelme is quality but go on sky sports read the story and then make your mind up if you want him. I personally think a player like that would get us relegated by disrupting the camp.

As far as American bullshite goes, I take it you prefer bullshite of the homegrown, Ellis variety, the sort that gutted the squad's ambition and stature over the years. Say what you will about the Yanks, but their sports teams make gobs of cash, and are generally exceedingly professionally run. The training, fitness, sports science, nutrition, facilities...All absolutely top-notch.

kohoutek good shout! Look at the training facility we now have, shirts by Nike...thanks Randy! Its about foundations and that on the pitch but also commercially you can go out and do a Leeds Utd spend a load and hope to get into the Champions league and then end up broke and in the snd division or you can take your time and build success...face it, it doesn't happen over 1 summer window.
