On Wednesday night, at about 11pm UK time, the site will be taken off line for a few hours. While it is off line, it will be moved and become part of another site, namely OleOle.
OleOle is a new community driven football website and I decided, actually quite a while ago now, to join up with them and become part of the fastest growing football website on the planet.
Why did I do this? Well, basically they sort of offered me a job. The job isn't doing anything that I'm not already doing but the guys at OleOle are actually going to pay me to keep the blog running.
It took a while to agree everything, mostly because it was very important that the only thing that really changed was where the site was hosted and that we as a community still have control of what happens on the blog.
We've got that control and with everything else that was offered, it made the decision of moving very easy.
Bottom line; nothing much is really going to change, but I needed to tell you so you knew why things may look just a little different on Thursday morning, although not by much.
Also, if you are registered here you'll find that you're registration details will work at OleOle.com (unless someone already has your user name then a 0 is going to be added to your user name, but you'll also have the chance to change it when the move happens and you log in for the first time) and me not having to manage the technical issues gives me a little more time each week to work on the blog, so if anything, it's only going to get better.
You'll also find loads more features on the site including your own blog (if you want to use it that is), videos, wallpapers, fantasy football, a live match centre, an Aston Villa wiki and loads of other stuff, some of which we will be using and some of which we might not. Ultimately we still decide what we bring into the AVFC Blog.
The forum will change a bit but not by much and regular forum users will know this has been going on for some time, so I hope they forgive all the questions I asked and work with me for a few days after Wednesday to make sure they are 100% happy with the end result of the new one.
So, Wednesday at about 11pm, the site is gone from this address, although you'll be automatically redirected and a new chapter of the AVFC Blog begins. More information on Thursday morning and probably a few bugs, which I'll let you tell me about somewhere, so we can get them fixed quickly!
If you have an account here, there is no need to create a new account at OleOle and on Thursday, after the move has happened, an email will be sent to you confirming your account has been transferred.

... groovy?
Sounds like a good idea!
good to see you will be making some money for all your hard work damian :D
very
go check them out at www.oleole.com
damian, you sell out!!! lol
oleole looks good, but aslong as all i have to type in google to find it is avfc then i dont mind?
If only MON took this kind of action.....
have to say looking on the villa section on oleole the new layout looks pretty damn good
p.s. do we have to tell taglor, vogra and leroy where it is lol ;D ;D
sorry guys im only kidding
;D ;D ;D
damian,,, will this mean comments will apear alot quicker.at the moment i can wait nearly two hours before comments are added. still a great site though cheers.
So basically you're saying blog off ;D
posts will be better than here. at the moment you have to refresh the page. on the new site you wont have to refresh - or atleast i hope not
Don't mean to be a scrooge, but I thought that Ole Ole looked bloody awful to be honest. Crowded and cluttered with adolescent graphics and flashing ad's evidently aimed at 14 year olds.
I understand that this is some pay back for your excellent hard work Damian, and of course will still read the blog, but from the look of things it will certainly not be so pleasant an experience as it has been!
Best of luck mate.
Madarab
It's not going to look like OleOle.com, it's going to look the exact same as what we have now apart from no ads on the homepage (that you currently see in the middle) and no ads in the content (that you see on this page)
technically, it will be less cluttered than this site is now
we're just joining that network - not making the site look like there site ...
Will all our old posts be transfered as some are well funny, or will we be starting with a new slate, also what about Karma?
;D
sam to help damian (if you dont mind damian) the posts will all be moved over so no need to restart, the site will look like this one without the adverts etc... and im not sure about the karma
Ok, so you will still have the same role there as you do here Damian? Will that mean there will be loads of new different users also?
Leroy
Exactly the same role and maybe more users, seeing as we'll be sitting on a huge site.
Good luck and well done Damian!!:)
Well Done
What a bonus getting paid for what you like Doing I hope you didnt come cheap
Will we go directly to the Villa page as i would hate to see scouse stuff
Well done Damo its nice to see a reward for your hard work congrats!
You will basically go direct to a page that looks just like the homepage here (www.avfcblog.com) right now
basically, we're going to get all the features of what oleole.com offer but its going to look exactly the same as this
oleole.com were very conscious of not changing anything
thanks for the emails also to everyone that has sent in
Damian...Can we start on a level 'karma' playing field cos at the moment the 'karma thief' has been busy on my part of the forum...! ;D
Well done Damian. Richly deserved.
Congrats Damien. Looking forward to the same excellent blogs :)
I hope we dont lose our Karma, it has taken me ages to get to -32(last count)
I don't know you or how you feel about it (deep down) but I love what you do here, and if you can keep it going, or even give other sites some of your expertise then so much the better. The fact that you're getting paid must be wonderful - does this mean that you are leaving another paid job - if so what - to do this? Get in.
Anyway, anyone who can do what they love for money should seize the chance. Good luck, and Up the Villa.
It look's similar to vital oleole but Spanish. pity i enjoyed your site mind you i suppose you gotta pay the bills.
Well done, Damien. You deserve it. As we say in Ireland, The Craic is mighty !!! Watched tonight's offering. Utd are a jammy lot. Pompey and Spurs in dire straits. The Man City result well cheered me up. I think we'll beat the scouse gits on sunday. All you lucky ones able to be there, enjoy.
Congratulations Damo, great to hear your work will be rewarded financially etc, you deserve it for all your hard work and dedication.
Looking forward to seeing the new site and set up later in the week. Any rumours bud ?
UTV ;)
Great news on the format not changing Damian, that was my only concern really.
The ad´s on here are done so well that I almost don´t notice them! Although I suppose I´m not supposed to say that :)
Best of luck, hopefully it will grow from strength to strength.
Does it mean you won't be able to go 'off down the pub' so often?? ;)
long time reader, first timer poster! seems i picked a good time to join. Viva la Revolutione!
Congratulations Damian
Hope you got a good deal. You deserve it for all your hard work.
I notice you got them to copy the look of this site.
I will still keep blogging after the switch.
Thank you Damian for all your work,I hope the change over is smooth.
One worry, I see AVFC Blog via my home page on iGoogle, many years ago AVFC Blog could be added to iGoogle home page via add stuff > gadgets > search Aston Villa. I don't think AVFC Blog can still be added but I continue see the last 3 blogs on my home page. Will I still be able to see the new site via iGoogle homepage? Do you think the new site could be added to iGoogle gadgets?
Keep up the good work.
Well done Damian, richly richly deserved for your hard work and dedication over the past few years. You are a very special person and it just shows hard work can pay off.
Congrats mate
Has anyone noticed how much Anton Ferdinand looks like Vin Diesel? Boy, could we do with Vin Diesel in our defence.
fair play to you mate. any news on de la red,Doyle, swp or milner
Consider the DLR activity dead.
I'm not one to moan about a possible signing (unlike taglor and goldie) before we have actually seen him perform on the pitch. However, KEVIN DOYLE!? this really can't happen. And for 7.5 million!!? That would not be a signing in the right direction.
Milner- Yes please!
SWP- Yes, but think he will go Man.city
Joe Cole- The biggest yes of all, BUT he's mr.chelsea and he plays on the left.
De la red has got to be dead in the water? Am i right Damian?
Oh and i was away last week, have i missed the launch of fantasy football on here?
I think we all will miss this site but hey life gose nothing wrong in changing sites if we still get to come and talk all things villa
Il look forward to useing the new site :) :)
Aston Villa are moving forward and this site is following :P
Well done Damian, thank you for all your efforts in making a first class site. One concern; I have iGoogle as my home page and AVFC blog is on my home page with other gadgets added, this way I always see the last 3 AVFC blogs. Will the new site support iGoogle home page? Cheers. :)
PS What are your thoughts about the Villa game on Thursday, a weakened side or full team?
just heard millner has put in a transfure
I agree that it's good you are getting something out of it Damian but also agree the site is not wonderful and it was difficult to log on wthout changing my password
