I have to say, my musings today were prompted by my wife. For the record, I think ladies football is great: I enjoyed the women's World Cup and as an Under 10s coach I have one or two girls who are better than most of the lads. No problem with that.
But when we get to Villa Park, that's when you really see the difference between a man and a girl.
All credit to the missus - she's been a season ticket holder alongside me for many years. And she shouts for the Villa, believe me. But she also takes a slightly different view of things, shall we say.
For example, she thinks Gareth Barry is a very good looking young lad. But she suspects him of wearing blusher to accentuate those high cheekbones (what??).
As another example, she thinks John Carew is "really sexy" because he doesn't run about and sweat like the other players, he just "stays cool".
But what inspired me to write this diary entry was the following: my wife thinks that since Ollie shaved his beard off he's become a much more attractive man.
That may well be true. But what of the Wolfman? What of the scary, next-time-I-see-you-at- Villa-Park-I'll-eat-your-nuts Olllie we have come to love?
I want Olof Mellberg to look like a Viking. I want him to look as if, for one false word, he'll burn down your village, rape your women, sup your beer and headbutt your chief on the way out.
To me, Ollie's got to bring back the beard: never mind what the women say.
Bring back the Wolfman!

Wooolfman! someone should come up with a song to include his beard vikingness
My wife noticed his good looks since shaving his beard off too, his kids go to the same school as my children and he apparently smiled at my wife...hmmmm
LOL! my misses still refers to him as the sexiest man i sweden! (remember when he once beat freddie Ljungberg in a swedish mag poll)- but she loves the beard and moans when he shaves, he couldnt be more stereotypical swedish lumberjack if he had a woolly hat and boots
the beard made ollie look like a man without it he looks like a little boy with his little chaps face, maybe thats wat the women like about him.
Couldn't agree more.
and it's winter, he could have been in the Villa Grotto... gawd!
Wolfman - I like it.
He used to look like a Norse God. I could imagine him swinging a large hammer to make thunder. Now he looks a lot younger and much less intimidating. Maybe he's making himself a bit more aerodynamic for his full-back role? Pace is important, after all.
Careful Sarge, keep an eye on Ollie ;)
I've never seen him without beard, but I saw him yesterday during Greece-Sweden and it's too much now...it's going to be summer, it would be annoying for him having all that beard! It's true that it's not going to be a very hot summer, but anyway...In his place, I would shave it, but not totally, I'd just leave something, but not soo much. Anyway he is attractive, and unfortunately he has already got family...I wanted him for me :P
Sarge wow you're very lucky! I wish if he smiled at me ;)
He will be playing in my Juventus (I'm Italian), and I'll surely see him at the summer training in Pinzolo. If he weren't married...
And he is wonderful!!!!!!!! I have never seen someone sexier! He just left a little of beard and it gives him a wonderful aspect! I'll go to see the training tomorrow and I can't wait to see him! But also Albin Ekdal...he is a bit too young for me but no matter!
