Thursday afternoon: Marco Caneira and Yoann Pele

Thursday, 15 May 08, 08:02 AM · Comments (15)

The internet is a wonderful thing, mainly for the amount of information - true and not so true - it can spread throughout the world in an instant.

This afternoon it has told the world that Villa are keen on Valencia's Marco Caneira and that the unnamed club that has bid for Le Mans' Yoann Pele may well be us too.

I don't know much about either, so I checked the world's best website: Wikipedia

However, things didn't quite work out when both players only had entries in Finnish. What I could translate (or, more truthfully, could see on the right-hand info panel) is that Marco Caneira is a 29-year-old defender and Yoann Pele is a 25-year-old goalkeeper.

We'll know in a week or so if we did bid for Pele.

In other goalkeeping related news, Thomas "Why aren't I playing?" Sorenson has left the club after his contract expired, along with Patrik Berger and the Legend Mellberg.

Well it's only a few hours to our first signing. I predicted 15th May would be the day of our first signing. Is it going to be GB? UTV.

Yohann Pele is quality, don't know much about Caneira but if he plays for Valencia he can't be that bad!!!!

Caneira is a decent player. My cousin lives practically next-door to the Mestalla Stadium and i've been following them for many years(behind Villa of course). Unfortunately Marco Caneira doesn't play much for Valencia. He was loaned out to Sporting Lisbon all of last season and played well(when he got a game). He's played across Europe for many big clubs including Inter Milan, Bordeaux and Benfica.

god caneira has played for everyone:
Sporting CP Salgueiros (loan)Beira-Mar (loan)FC Alverca (loan)
Inter Milan Reggina (loan) SL Benfica (loan)Bordeaux (loan)
Valencia CF Sporting CP (loan) 1 (0)

Don't know if thats good or bad but doubt he'd stay long with a history like that!

Carew was a well travelled man before setting up at villa.

pongo 1981 - "he plays for valencia so he cant be that bad" LOL, the same valencia that are close to relegation and have sacked 2 managers this year, sorry mate!

forgive me if im wrong but caneira can play left back and right back? would be a good squad player

i agree with mike s - diego would be amazing for any prem club, and by last nights standards so would arshavin
