Tour News: Two more signings

Olof Mellberg on preseason tour of Sweden with Aston Villa
Villa skipper Olof Mellberg
Olof Mellberg 'has heard' that Aston Villa are close to bringing in two new signings.

Speculation on who these players are is rife but the smart money is on Milan Baros as the first one.

Rumours are also growing that Manchester City will meet Villa's valuation of Vassell and the need to replace the England international has become David O'Leary's prime objective.

The manager however laughed off specualtion that a swap deal could be done for Distin and it appears he is no longer interested in a move for the French central defender.

Instead it appears that Gary Cahill is getting a proper pre-season run out and is the only player to have played the full 90 minutes in both of Villa's matches so far - a sure sign that the manager is taking a very close look at the youngster.

To the tour and Villa play game two of their tour of Sweden today against J?nk?pings S?dra IF.

This game will be more of a challenge for Villa as J?nk?pings are currently sitting on top of the Division 2 table not having lost and scoring 27 goals in 11 games.

The players may still be part timers but don't expect 14 goals this time - we'll have a match report for you later.
