Two new wallpapers and a young lad called Nathan Burns

Wednesday, 12 September 07, 09:44 AM · Comments (18)

First off and to celebrate Wednesday we're releasing two new desktop wallpapers for you. They look really quite nice and thanks very much to mymule for providing them.

If you want them just click on either of the images below to open up the full size one. Then do whatever it is you've got to do to save them.

Some speculation for you also; Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is apparently interested in Adelaide United striker Nathan Burns. He is 19 years old and while I'm not up to date on Australian football I have asked a mate who lives down under and he's full of praise for the player.

His words were 'excellent talent and possibly the best there is out here. Although the Premier League is a big step up this lad has probably the best chance of anyone to make it'.

Anyway, it's a rumour to get us kick started for January, so take it as you want to. I'll take it with a beer in about three hours.

This Burns fella intrigues me by the comments of adelaidevillan and your friend alone. However, i can't help but be sceptical that he's going to be good enough (else the big boys would be sniffing). Look back to the Freddy Adu business...that guy was meant to be the next Pele when he was 14 or so. Where's he now? Benfica...because no one thought he was good enough for their league. In a way i don't know why i brought up that comparison, because that doesn't make this guy not good enough...i just think that if he was going to be something special, we wouldn't be the one's who got him.

On a different note, the claret wallpaper is now adourning my main page...it's very classy. Nice one.

Mmm. Nathan Burns ,Adelaide Utd. "A" league football is on the verge of unwatchable. Its like park football. They all chase the ball around in a big group. He may have potential for the future but i couldnt see him getting in the team any time soon.
Anyway thanks for the wallpapers.

Nathan Burns has fantastic potential, he's quick ( he will fit the bill into MON's style of play),good feet and hungry for goals. Villa & MON get in quick he,s slipped under the radar, he has been top quality in the first three a-league games so far for Adelaide Utd. I would be sad to see him go which will be enevitable but i would have the best of both worlds if then go on to the Villa boys. As much potential as Harry Kewell at at early age -if not more

As a fellow Villa fan from Down Under, let me assure everyone that Nathan Burns is the real deal. He is more of an attacking midfielder than a striker though. Has unlimited potential!

Burns is the best young talent in the A-League at the moment by some way, he has represented Australia at every level and is spearheading our Olympic qualifying campaign. He is quick, but still very strong on the ball. Could he make it in the EPL? Who knows, he is only 19, the current A-League season will be a big one for him. He has the talent, but it takes more than that to make it in the big leagues.

Here is a couple of short videos featuring Burns for those interested:

As for Robbie's comments on whether or not he would come to Villa - Adrian Leijer was the A-League Young Player of the Year last season - he recently joined Fulham, currently playing in their reserves. Nick Ward was the YPOTY the season before that, he joined QPR and was on loan at Brighton last season. The best talent doesnt always end up at the big clubs, which can be a good thing.

All that said, he would have Moore, Gabby, Maloney, Young and Carew all ahead of him. Would be a tough ask to get much first team action. I can't see Villa paying good money for him in January, when they could pick him up for free at the end of the season.

Yeah he is probably the best young talent in the A league, whether he can make the step up is another thing. he is quite quich and skillful.

Leave him Down-under.....A Leauge football is no better than the Dr Martins League......now Moustapha Silifou, he's the man to give us real quality in the midfield area.....once he settles in, I think we could have the gem of the prem !!!

You fool Astonmilan. Perhaps Viduka should have been left down under... he came out of the national league too.

I personally believe Nathan Burns has the potential to make it in England(Aston Villa)...I've seen him play numerous times and have seen him do some amazing things. He has good close ball skills and his eye for goal is something to be proud of being Australian..

Anyone who thinks The A-League is like park football, its not. Your just comparing it with the premiership. Its not a walk in the park for any player. And its not the best out there, buts its TOUGH. Nathan Burns has proved himself in the A-League against some pretty good defenders. MON and Aston Villa....Snap this young lad up...He has what it takes to be a great footballer..!!

Ive seen this nathan burns in 4 live matches now on tv and he would not cut it in the premier league. Its much faster and much stronger. Im not doubting his ability he looks a fine young player, however his level maybe in the lower leagues of English football possibly the championship or league 1.

Loving the wallpapers :D, I live in Adelaide, where nathan Burns plays his club football, he is the backbone of the club and in my belief is ready to take the step up to european football. Although he has a lot of talent i do believe that he would struggle to threaten a starting position, especially as he plays a creative style of game which Ashely Young specialises in. I do believe he would be a shrude investment as he is able to score goals and create them from nothing.
