Villa drop points at home

Monday, 23 April 07, 02:02 AM · Comments (5)

Some will say we were unlucky and some will say David James had a good day at the office; both sides will be right. Some like me will ask; why change a winning team?

I'm not having a pop at the manager because he knows what he's doing and he's probably doing it for next season. However, it is frustrating when you see your team winning and then not winning because of changes.

Villa might have controlled the game but it was also a very boring one in terms of entertainment but it was a point, which as I've said so many times this season, is better than none.

Villa look to be heading in the right direction and there was certainly less long balls. Martin Laursen looked good and if he can play like that for the whole of next season he'd deserve the new contract that he's back talking about.

There is another worry though. Despite all the club are doing Villa Park still only managed to attract 31,745 spectators; six of them from Portsmouth. A full and singing Villa Park would have won that game yesterday.

Some major investment should boost attendances next season. I'm still surprised on 31,745 turned up though. I think Sky might have had something to do with it.

Forgive me father for I have sinned I stayed at home and watched the bore draw on Sky with a nice cold beer or three.

For me it was all to predictable, I wonder what it would have been like if Young had came on at Half-Time. He seemed to really upset the defence.

Well, onwards and upwards.

Agree with the point about Young. In fact, I think we could have done with Moore, Young and Maloney on sooner. I don't think Carew should have started, but I reckon O'Neill didn't fancy the Gabby or Carew decision

pretty boring game, but young showed some future class

Thought Young looked really good when he came on. If he is going to play on the right then I see no need in getting SWP!

Another plus point I thought was the bench was the strongest it looked in a long time!! (it really was that boring wasn't it)
