West Ham v Aston Villa: Live text commentary, Premier League match watch and chat

Saturday, 20 December 08, 09:21 AM · Comments (16)

End Of Match: Lovely.

90' (+4): Any second now ...

90' (+4): 10

90' (+4): 20

90' (+4): 30

90' (+3): 40

90' (+3): We need to concentrate for 60 more seconds.

90' (+1): Four nail biting minutes to come. I'd love another goal but if anyone is going to get it, it will be West Ham.

88': Not long to go lads but I'm predicting 4 minutes added time. It's all West Ham and we're just kicking out as far as we can.

86': Great save from Friedel, again. He is my man of the match today. He's made three very good saves and has kept us in the game.

82': Another corner for us. To be taken by Young.

81': Ten minutes to go lads. Remember, anything can happen and usually does with us.

78': The TV people have put it down to Neil as an own goal. Funny though how it works.

78': Okay, it was a deflection, but it's going to go down to Milner. The irony is, it was a cross gone bad but if it does go down to him, my bet on him to score has come good!

77': Milner scores.

74': Milner crosses again. Guess again where it went. Thats right, the first West Ham defender. I don't know how much more time I have to give him and you know what, Martin O'Neill isn't going to give him that much more time.

71': Yellow card for James Milner. Atleast his name is down somewhere else other than the teamsheet today.

71': The attendance today is 31,353. Not much else happening.

63': Actually, it was Milner. Guess what happened? Go on, guess.

63': We are starting to put a little pressure on. We have another corner. Probably to be taken by Barry.

59': Nice work from Reo-Coker down the right but he just fails to get a cross in. Insted, he passes to Milner who crosses to the only West Ham player nowhere near a Villa player. Nice.

57': For the record; Reo-Coker wasn't happy coming on. He looked like he couldn't give a toss and was talking to himself.

57': reo-Coker is coming on for Carlos. He's not getting the best reception.

55': Carlos is signalling that he needs to go off. Not sure if that is who Harewood is going to come on for though.

55': Corner is taken by Barry and passed to the first West Ham defender. Looks like Marlon Harewood is coming on.

55': Petrov shoots from 30 yards and it gets deflected for a corner.

50': Sorry I'm late lads - had to restart. Anyway, back now and I'm hoping for a goal or two.

Half Time: Half time and overall, a fairly even first half.

44': We broke down the left with Barry who passes to Gabby who was just running to quick but if he had controlled it and shot he only had the keeper to beat. Instead he passed to Milner who hit a defender with the shot.

43': Another fine save from Friedel. Only five minutes to go this half and I think the break will be good for us.

34': A cross from Bellamy hits one of our players and it's going in. Great save from Friedel.

30': It was close, just not close enough.

29': Factoring in that we are away, it's been a fairly even first half. But now we have a free kick in Ashley Young territory!

26': Young hits the post after taking it past the keeper. Taking it past Green was maybe a step too much, but it was close. We should be 1 up.

23': A nice run down the left by Gabby who crosses into the middle towards Ashley but he leaves it for Sidwell who doesn't get a proper touch and is put off by a diving West Ham defender. The thing is, it's Sidwell getting forward again - he's going to score a few for us you know.

17': The free kick was played to the edge of the box where Sidwell let fly. Only problem was that it was wide. Made good contact though.

16': A lovely bit of trickery from Young down the left meant he could break free, but he was fouled by a West Ham player 3 yards from the edge of the box. Free kick to us.

14': Another corner for us. Goal for Laursen maybe?

13': That was lucky. Another longish ball to Bellamy and it took a very fine save from Brad to keep it out. This time down the left. It almost looks as if Carlton Cole is dropping back to help out in midfield.

10': Milner just had his first foray down the right and it didn't go well. He pushed past the defender but the defender beat him to the ball. Hopefully he is still warming up.

7': Long ball from someone at West Ham to Bellamy who shot at Brad from 20 yards out. With us having the extra man in midfield, I suspect they're going to revert to a lot of long balls today.

3': Whipped in by Young and Laursen nearly got a head on it but Green got to it first.

3': Thins are looking good in midfield; we're using the extra man. We have a corner now.

1': We kick off.

Before Kick Off: West Ham are playing with Cole and Bellamy up front. They're both decent players but this does mean we've got an extra man in midfield. I hope we do our best to exploit this.

Before Kick Off: Right. the players are in the tunnel and about to come out. Minutes to go.

Before Kick Off: Quick note for Ugly_Betty, freelancelot and Ghosthunter. teh shirts will be ordered today and probably going out on Monday, so they might not get there for Christmas, but they are on the way. Or will be.

Before Kick Off: Quick note for Ugly_Betty, freelancelot

Before Kick Off: Five minutes to go.

Before Kick Off:

20 minutes to kick off. Seeing as my main bet of the day went the wrong way I've had some more; Barry or Milner to score at any time and us to win and Liverpool to win.

Before Kick Off:

Some team news:

Friedel; Luke Young, Davies, Laursen, Cuellar; Ashley Young, Sidwell, Barry, Petrov, Milner; Agbonlahor. Subs: Guzan, Harewood, Delfouneso, Knight, Reo-Coker, Shorey, Gardner.

Looks like 4-5-1 again and three points!

Before Kick Off: Actually, scrap that last one. It's not 3-1 to Sunderland.

Before Kick Off: Bugger. Sunderland have gone 2-1 up and they've had a player sent off. My bet is buggered. Still, as long as we win today, I don't care.

Before Kick Off: Hlaf time around hte grounds so I'm going to get a sandwich. Any news, comment below.

Before Kick Off: Goal for Fulham. Jimmy Bullard. 1-0

Before Kick Off: 3-0 to Blackburn. Bloody hell, they'll think they can stay up after this.

Before Kick Off: My big bet of the day is on us, Blackburn, Bolton and Hull. So, if it comes off, I'll be happy, but I've also got Liverpool and Arsenal to draw tomorrow, which would be perfect too.

Before Kick Off:

As it stands now, these are the scores on the doors:

Blackburn 2-0 Stoke
Bolton 2-1 Portsmouth
Fulham 0-0 Middlesbrough
Hull 1-1 Sunderland

Looks like fat Sam is having a good start.

Before Kick Off:

Afternoon all. My new Jelly Belly machine arrived today and I reckon we've got three points today so I'm in good spirits.

This is hte page where we'll be running the match commentary from but before then, I thought we'd follow some of the other matches getting played today. I know I'm a little late, but I was opening my Jelly Belly machine, sorry.
