What does O'Leary say to Doug that keeps him in his job?

Thursday, 04 May 06, 08:42 AM · Comments (0)

Doug Ellis is two dimensional. Everything he has done to get Aston Villa to where they are now is 'Business 101', for instance take the possible redundancies because we're finishing the season lower than budgeted; no 'plan b' or looking for ways to generate additional revenue or creating new revenue streams; just sack a few people.

This is why it's so surprising that Doug hasn't got rid of O'Leary and it can only come down to one reason. O'Leary has this ability to convince Doug that it's a good idea to keep him; which it's not but he's convinced Doug.

When O'Leary first came to Villa Park he literally begged for the job and took a very low starting salary so he could 'prove himself'. That salary was soon re-negotiated when we finished 6th which was a massive mistake, but that's something else all together.

Ellis has come out saying that O'Leary is 'full of blarney'. Ellis knows that Villa are just about to finish their worst ever home season and worst ever finish in the premiership. Ellis knows that certain players want the manager gone and Ellis knows that O'Leary is a wet blanket that couldn't manage Chelsea with all the money in the world. So why isn't he sacking him?

We believe that Ellis has finally lost the plot. We believe that Ellis is not thinking straight and that Ellis doesn't really know what is going on; that he's lost control of the club. The beauty of Doug Ellis is the way he has done business throughout his entire life.

It's predictable and we all no why; he doesn't take long term risks which is why we believe that Doug is no longer in control of his faculties. Keeping David O'Leary are not the actions of the Doug Ellis we all know and love, hate or despise. Of that, we should all be able to agree.
