Richard FitzGerald as good confirmed the other day that Aston Villa will be getting a new website for next season, under the guise of putting the media rights up for sale.
Media rights are the 'big ticket' and with this is going to come a whole new team of people which begs the question; what next for Geoff and Jack?
Cards on the table, the content is poor and we need some new people in to spice it up. Well, that is now coming thanks to our new CEO.
Richard FitzGerald knows what he is doing and will know what companies he wants this tender document to go out to and it's just a case of who comes back with the best ideas and who he feels he can work with; although I wouldn't be surprised if this decision is already made (there isn't long until next season starts).
We'll still have everything that we've got but expect a new community feel to the website which will bring a new forum and a lot more functionality to the site in terms of user access. We'll also get much more (and better) content covering more aspects of Aston Villa, more ways to receive the content including mobile delivery over web based RSS feeds, video and audio.
The big thing for me is going to be the Aston Villa TV channel that we'll be able to subscribe to over Sky. Nobody has said that it's coming but they have said "centralised production process" which could allow much of its media content to be created "in-house".
Let me put it this way; if it's good enough for Blackburn Rovers then surely Aston Villa will be looking at that, especially if they are going to have all the technology to do it "in-house". It's coming people; Aston Villa television over Sky.
So, Jack and Geoff, what are you going to do now? Geoff will probably get a 'section' to look after on the new site, maybe the AVFC Blog which has taken off but I can't see Jack keeping his job, can you? Jack isn't even a Villa fan if you believe the rumours.
Personally, I can't wait. The technology is all there so expect everything that you're seeing everywhere else and much better content. Who knows, maybe even free video content over the web; subsidised by the TV channel.

personally couldn't give a monkey's what happens to Geoff and Jack. 2 nobodies!! who are they >:(
Jack wont be too put out, I hear him on talksport and everything. I was at the dogs at Wimbledon on Friday and guess who was commentating at the track - the very same Jack F**kin Woodward, the annoying git is everywhere
the sooner they are both gone the better. i agree its about the content however as i'm not that fussed about the design as long as what i read and watch is up to standard. and with woodward it's not
Yes another step in the right direction for our club. Well done Aston Villa!
Jack Woodward must be the worst football commentator since Hugh Johns on ITV some years ago, and he was bad.
The website needs a massive overhaul, it's like something out of Noah's ark, come to think, is Geoff really Noah?
I expect the new site to be more professional, and run along the lines of the Cleveland Browns official site, take a look here...

The thought of Villa having their own channel on Sky, albeit a subscription one, is also welcome and exciting.
Randy Lerner and his associates are a breath of fresh air at Villa Park, long may they reign.
I would combined Aston Villa and Cleveland Browns into one channel so we can enjoy something different in quiet days.
