Wigan make first major final in club history

Tuesday, 24 January 06, 10:44 PM · Comments (0)

Jason Roberts put Wigan into their first major final in the clubs history with two minutes to go at Highbury tonight.

I watched the match on TV and had a sneaky fiver on Arsenal to go through as I didn't really fancy Wigan getting the result despite going into the match one up. I might be down a fiver but it was worth it as the match put passion back into the game tonight.

Arsenal will feel unlucky because they had just about done enough and a Robin van Persie wonder free kick in the second half of extra time looked to have sealed the place but Wigan just didn't give up.

I'll be rooting for Wigan in the final after watching them tonight. I hope they go on to win it - it would be a great story of what is possible.

Full match report can be viewed here.
