Wonderkid on his way to Villa Park?

Sunday, 03 June 07, 03:18 AM · Comments (24)

Michael Kightly has admitted he would consider leaving Wolves if the right team came along. That's very nice of the young man, considering he's playing for a team likely to never make it back to the Premiership.

Now, I don't recall ever seeing this lad play so I can't really comment on his footballing skills. However, I can tell you that since his admission to the Sunday Mirror, alarm bells have been ringing at Goodison and Villa Park.

Naturally that is if you believe what you read in the Sunday Mirror. The price is £3mn. and apparently he's a 'wonderkid'.

Now, I can't tell you much having not remembering if I've seen him play but he's only just signed for Wolves in January, is called the Ryan Giggs of non-league football and plays on the wing.

Rumour likelihood: about as likely as David O'Leary getting another job in football management.

would be a good signing, however i think we have enough youth and potential in the side as it stands!!And as football has taught us down through the years Not all youngsters will reach their potential, so I think we need to be goin for more experienced players now, in the 23-27 age group. Bellamy, Kallstrom, lahm, Ben Haim, Kone, cheeky bid for Bullard maybe?

I actually wouldn't be too thrilled if we signed Kightly this summer regardless of the amount of praise he has received. It was only a year ago that he was playing non-league football. He way be a promising youngster with bags of potential but I think that he will need another 2 seasons in the Championship before he will be ready to play for a top 6 premiership side. Let's wait and see how he plays for Wolves next season before we think about signing him and spend money this summer on an already proven player.

Did someone say that Wigan are a bigger Club than Villa? I think someone is abit confused? Villa are also a bigger club than Reading and i think Kites would pick PL football off the Championship. Admittly Everton currently are bigger than us (not for long ;)and if they wanted him over us then they would get him. But i think he will leave at the end of next season if Wolves dont come up.

I also agree with the comments that we dont need anymore kids we have enough promising youth we need players who will perform now. But if we do sign him (unlikly i know) then odviously O'Neill thinks he is good enough and will most probably be good.

I haven't seen him play...but if the rumours are to be believed the lads a bit special. So lets nab him before he becomes the next Bale and becomes a Man U or Chelsea target...or even a Spurs player. However, potential is great, but where were the top class players we are promised?

Up the VILLA!

Not a clue who this kid is but he signed from a conference team called Grays, pretty big step-up, Conference National to Championship, good on the lad for being a hit at the Molineux. I don't think he's coming in though. As Damian said, as likely as DOL getting another job in football management. I'm expecting more foreign signings than guys from down the road.

Why do these so called Wolves fans come on this site and represent their club so badly? Please try to keep it contructive, afterall isn't that the whole point of having an intelligent debate?

Like other Wolves Fans the Kite is going nowhere. We have our new owner and unlike Aston Vanilla we do not get licked very often.

We insult others only to disguise our insecurities! Comming on this site to display childish and inaccurate comments only serves to prove the point. The fact is if the player comes to Villa then that would leave you feeling understandably dissapointed, not to mention more insecure. The thing is, a lot worse can happen in life!

I admit I have not seen much of him, but saw one of the play of games and he looked exactly what he is a championship player.

We have had some decent players from villa in the past and some bleeding useless ones aswell, stick to your celtic connections and keep your hands off Kightly. Why not go for Hartson, hes out of favour at Sandwell.

Not sure where you get your information from, but Kightly has never said "he would consider leaving Wolves if the right offer came along".

And childish as the comments from Wolves fans may be, perhaps if you hadn't inflamed with the "considering he's playing for a team likely to never make it back to the Premiership" comment, you wouldn't be seeing so many retorts.

i cant believe all these stupid wolves fans who havent got a clue on football. Anyone that looses 6-o to southampton isnt rated at all by me. you can keep the 'kite' as he aint good and fits into your atrocity that you call a team. up the villa

Damien, how could you show to the world audience on the world wide web how very little you actually know about football. ''Team never likely to make it to the Premiership'', well we have a much better, experienced and attacking side then we did in 2003 - Last time Wolves were up there. I know you are not used to loyalty at the Villa, but Kites has repaid Merlin Mick's belief with his performances and his wish to only play Prem footy with the Mighty Wolves. How many Villa fans do you think would give their team a rousing standing ovation after watching them try and lose 6-0 at homes, not many methinks, you are so shallow. Look forward to the Villa-Baggie games next year. We shall wave as we cross divisions. Mac from Ross on Wye
