Woodgate, Boruc and Bellamy coming with Smiler and Sorensen leaving

Sunday, 22 April 07, 09:27 AM · Comments (16)

I love the Sunday newspapers as they're normally full of rumours and now that we've got some cash to spend they're usually rumours of a positive nature.

Today we've got one that says Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc was seen in the players' lounge at Villa Park in the Sunday Express which also goes a long way to confirming that a keeper is top of the managers wish list.

The Craig Bellamy rumour has raised it's head again. I'm sure I'd like to see players of Bellamy's quality at Villa Park, I'm just not sure I want to see Bellamy at Villa Park. Still, if the manager wants him and he comes I'm sure they'll not be too many people grumbling.

The same paper, the News of the World have the manager interested in Johnathan Woodgate. If we could prise him away from his 'beloved' Middlesbrough and if Real Madrid would be willing to let him go after such a good season I see this as an excellent signing.

The People have Smiler McCann on his way out but no midfielder coming in to replace him. I think some will be happy with that and some won't. I'm with the bunch who think Smiler McCann should have stayed at Sunderland.

It appears it is a new keeper and central midfielder the manager is after with a defender and striker as second priority; I wonder if he has a plan B?

Seems interesting. Though i've read on other fan sites that MON will go for Cudicini rather than Boruc in the summer. Woodgate would also be a fantastic buy for us!

We need a keeper and someone good he can rely on in front of him. I'd take Woodgate any day of the week.

Goodbye Smiler- you wear your heart on your sleeve but it's not enough for us to be a top club again.

Cudicini anyday! Excellent 'keeper, shame for him that Chelski got the one with the helmet.

I think he'll surprise us all with who he signs - more European signings rather than established EPL players.

Why would boruc leave to go to villa? Yes you got maloney and petrov but petrov gave the best years of his career to celtic and maloney never got over the blessed one leaving so followed him south. I do hope the wee man proves himself but tell me the last scottish player to make it big time down south,Chockie mclair is the only one to take a winners medal and wee maloney would do well to emulate what he has done, but it wont happen at villa i,m afraid

You've got absolutely no chance of Boruc, got a minimum release fee of £6 million and Champions league football next season. Why would he want to move to fight relegation at Villa?

you're in dreamworld if you think Boruc would take a step back and sign for Villa......He's a world class player, playing for one of the finest teams on the planet, who, I should point out, are in the CL next season....with all due respect, why would he want to go to Villa?.....We managed to offload Petrov but Boruc is a good player!

Dream on lads! Boruc won't make the same mistake as Petrov and baloney! Top flight football with a top flight team is what the guy deserves and that's what he gets at Parkhead.

You have NO CHANCE of signing Boruc(As stated by Boruc)! Why would he want to join the money grabbing EPL failures Petrov & Maloney. MON can take a hike, and stop trying to poach our players.

Love you Celtic fans! Legends while they play for you but crap the second they go for something different. So which it? As for Celtic being in the CL, any decent team who played in a league that only really has 2 teams would qualify, wouldn't they?

Im sorry Celtic but Aston Villa are the team for me, ive had a great time in scotland but its time for me to take a step up in my career. Bhoyo, Villa are not going to be in a relegation fight next season with MON in charge, nor are they in one right now by the way.

in some way, shape or form, weather it be route one football, sunday league, old trafford, san siro, the backyard or the school playground.
Bueatifull foottball can be found anywhere that there is a ball and someone to kick it.

The idiot claiming to be Boruc, how is going from European football and a league topping team to a mid-table bound team who's only chance of seeing Europe will be on this years summer holidays, a 'step up in his career'
