Words of wisdom from Lee Hendrie

Tuesday, 31 January 06, 01:06 PM · Comments (0)

Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has completed his monthly obligation to the official 'what are we going to publish' web site today by talking of current home form and the upcoming fixture with Chelsea.

He had quite a bit to say but the key part for me was "I know it's Chelsea next time and we'll do very well to win that one, but look at the last home game in the League. No disrespect to West Ham, they've done well this season, but we should be winning games like that."

He's spot on with his comments about West Ham. We are better than them or at least we should be. What has happened to our club that we are now not winning these matches and seem to accept this position?

If we beat Chelsea Wednesday night I hope our home form changes for the better. To win on Wednesday should have an effect on confidence for the remaing home fixtures against Newcastle, Portsmouth, Fulham, West Brom, Blues, Manchester City and Sunderland.

Like Lee, I mean no disrespect to any of those teams above but apart from a point against Newcastle I think we should be beating them all - no questions or excuses.

I've never thought of Lee Hendrie as the smartest player in the dressing room but he's hit home a message today that David O'Leary would do well to learn from.
