Tonight's 2nd Round draw for the Carling Cup has drawn us away to League Two side Wrexham.
It's not too far to go in midweek, although if like me you happen to live in London and have very little holiday allowance left then it could be a tad troublesome.
For my own personal and probably selfish reasons I was hoping to play Leyton Orient or Luton, but this tie isn't so bad as it should be an easy route to Round 3.
Wrexham will probably give us a good game and might force us to extra time and maybe penalties if we play like we did two seasons ago. However, last time we played them in the League Cup 30 years ago this year we won 5-1.
We should have the quality to win so if you're free one night on the 28th of August and don't mind a 140 miles round trip then tickets should be on sale in the next week. Kick off is 7.45pm.

according to the official site we have met Wrexham twice in the league cup and have gone on to win the cup both times
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lol
go to wrexham v villa, a mouth watering proposition, nah don't think so, i've gorra wire the mother-in-laws new chair up, mind you, petrov might look half decent at that level, might be worth a look,!!!!! nah, the chair it is.
problem is, you could travel all that way just to find the villa second string playing, oops, sorry, i forgot we havn't got one.
I no that no team should underestimate another but wrexham should be fairly easy for us
You have said it very well.
it dusnt matter anyway!we will draw chelsea next round!!
If Villa are even troubled by Wrexham, we really have lost all quality.
I still think we'll field at least 3 quarters of our main team since we don't have enough quality reserves to fill those positions, other than Isaiah, Zoltan Stieber and maybe this Forrester kid, or even the American we signed.
i would like to see the reserves play, jus so we know what they are lke, and if they are good enough to break into the first team, but DIZZY MUGS i still think forrester is 15, and players can't play they are 16 at least. i would lke to see him play.
I love going to these little grounds it'll be great fun. I always feel when theres 3,000 - 5,000 of us crammed into a small ground the atmosphere can be as electric as playing at any of the bigger grounds. This is due to the fact we would be expected to win and i don't think winning will be a problem at Wrexham. I see a comfortable 3-0 win no worries! ;D
ps We haven't got a big squad, so those of you not wanting to go just in case we field a weak side i think you need to think again and get behind the boys!
The American is injured til September. Would like to see Forrester and Stieber play, but Forrester will be on bench at best.
There are players ahead of him at the club who are more likely to play. Marc Albrighton would be good as he's a quick winger and good crosser from what I gather.
WHEN ARE WE GONNA GET THE PLAYERS IN THAT WE NEED
BOSWINGA - 6M
DANNY MILLS - FREE - AS COVER FOR BOSWINGA
CURTIS DAVIES - 8M - NEED A NEW CENTRE HALF
GAMST PEDERSEN - 10M - BRAKE THE BANK FOR HIM, WE NEED WINGERS
GUDJOHNSEN - SURELY VILLA WOULD BE A BETTER OPTION THAN WHU
THAT WOULD BE THE SQUAD SORTED
FIRST TEAM
GK - CARSON
RB - BOSWINGA
CB - MELLBERG
CB - LAURSEN / DAVIES
LB - BOUMA
RW - YOUNG
CM - BARRY
CM - REO-COKER
LW - GAMST PEDERSEN
CF - CAREW
CF - GUDJOHNSEN
SECOND TEAM
SORENSON
MILLS
LAURSEN / DAVIES
CAHILL
O'HALLORAN
AGBONLAHOR
PETROV
BERGER
MALONEY
MOORE
HAREWOOD
PLUS TAYLOR, GARDENER, STIEBER, OSBOURNE
A SQUAD 26 MAN STRONG
I WOULD BE OVER THE MOON WITH THAT TEAM AND SECOND TEAM
Danny mills Why would we want him ? he's 3rd rate he's that bad hull didn't want to keep him after his spell there lol Gudjohnsen as good a player as he is did he ever really have a telling impact on the Premiership ? i for one wouldn't drop moore or gabby for him, let alone pay his wages overpriced and over-rated in my opinion. And then there's pederson he's great on his day but we've got young and barry for the left who i think are just as good if not better. I Agree with bosingwa and Davies though but we should try for rosenior insted of mills, Maybe yakubu he's sure to hit more than 10 goals a season which we need, and for the wing maybe routledge or Taylor from pompey.
Mint, one of my best mates is a Wrexham fan (born there - unlucky for him) so the banter has already started!
lol let's hope it's not a shocker and we lose in the first game of the carling cup. we could probably win it this year ;D
Damian,
you know this fantasy league thing!i saved my team as a draft!and submited it properly on monday!why has the mid week games not added onto my score?
at walshy

The game is confirmed for the 28th of August, 7:45pm ko.
I've amended the article but though I'd put it here in case no-one noticed. They don't usually notice my articles... ;D
Are there any Villa pubs in London?
I can't afford to go up and down to Birmingham, but would love to meet up with other Villains on a Saturday for a beer and the games nearby.
at Evoflash

Thanks!
Beer Villa....can't be a good recipe.. :D
I am a wrexham supporter so it was nice to read a couple of you had concerns about the trip to the racecourse ground. We have seen off a number of big clubs in the past so you wont have it your own way (hopefully!)
Anyway boys, enjoy the atmosphere as it is always a good lower division ground to visit
Good luck (but not against us!!)
p.s. the pubs are no problem and the banter is always good before the game
anybody know a good pub in wrexham?????????????
try this one:
