Young to make Ronaldo type impact at Villa Park

Wednesday, 24 January 07, 01:41 AM · Comments (3)

Former QPR striker Les Ferdinand believes new signing Ashley Young can have a similar impact at Villa to that of Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.

Ferdinand was a coach at Watford last season and speaking to BBC Sport he had nothing but praise for the youngster.

There is little doubt that Young is a huge prospect and has natural ability. I've always thought Villa were a better team with a Mark Walters or Tony Daley type player. Hopefully Young can be that player for us.

I think under MON guidance he will be BETTER than Ronaldo.

Bring on the Toon Army!

I hope the only similarity he develops is the footballing skill of Ronaldo. I would hate him to add an oily/ladyboy appearance that dives around like a performer from the Chisanau acrobatic company. Dressing in public like a pimped up chav, winking at an assortment of adolescents in the playground.

The Czech Republic international admits he struggled during his time at Villa.

'I was injured, the club fought against relegation in the first season. They are close to the bottom again,' he said

'This does not help an individual and it is difficult to shine. And we did not play in Europe.

'I do not want to make excuses, Aston Villa was not a good contract for me and I am glad it is over.'

What a whingebag!
