So, welcome to Bayer 04ever! This being my first blog, it might be rough, but no one has made a bayer leverkusen blog in english, so I decided to do my best. Background: Leverkusen is home to a small town near Cologne, Germany. Founded by the now-famous Bayer medicinal company (with a little nudge from their workers), it grew into one of the biggest teams in the bundesliga. Despite great success, however, they only reached the runner's up spot. They did this on four different occasions since 1997. In fact, since 1988, they have won the german cup(1993), the UEFA cup(1988), and been finalists in the champions league and the german cup(both 2002), somehow having trophies escape from their grasp. With stars like Michael Ballack, Bernd Schneider, Ze Roberto, Lucio, Dimar Berbatov, and even U.S. stars like Claudio Reyna and Landon Donovan, it is truly amazing that they have not gotten some more gold to hang up. Now, with young stars like René Adler, Gonzalo Castro, Simon Rolfes, Theofanis Gekas, and Stefan Kieβling, there will be nothing to stop them.
