Premiership resumes at last

Monday, 08 September 08, 04:22 PM

Played 3, then a gap. For a Manchester United fan it's played 2 then a gap. There was that UEFA Super Cup on the Tv. Bit of a disappointment butnow forgotten.

So to catch some live football, the stuff with fans and players I ventured into the FA Cup. You get looks of disbelief when you talk about Cup ties in August. Where do they think the plunky minnows looking for a giant killing come from. Probably not from the ties i watched. Trafford v. Stocksbridge Park Steels, and Maine Road v. Brigg Town.

It got to miss live footie so much i went to see Manchester United Reserves. It was an away fixture at Bury, which is a lot nearer than the home games in Nantwich. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now in charge of the side. Sat just behind the dugout I watched him shout lots of encouragement to the young lads. It helped. They won 2 nil. They play in the United style - pass, and pass, and pass even if it's backwards, and keep the ball.

Well Saturday will soon be here, and a big game at Liverpool. All eyes on Berbatov making his debut, we hope. All eyes this weekend will be on Manchester City. Are they now the world's richest club? From a sideshow to mega oil dollars overnight. Incredible. If the owners let Mark Hughes manage the club they might make things interesting in the Premiership. When owners start picking the signings and sellings it spells disaster.
