Manchester United Linked With Barcelona Striker Samuel Eto’o - Report

Sunday, 05 July 09, 02:10 AM · Comments (3)

Not content with signing one forward, the English champions may be lining up another in the shape of the 'Samu'...

Manchester United are reportedly set to beat rivals Manchester City to the signature of Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o.

The News of the World reports that the Cameroon international has decided he does not want to stay at Barca or join Man City and will instead head to Old Trafford.

The report claims that Eto’o is also ready to reduce his wage demands in order to become a Red Devil and link up with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Of course, neighbours City have made no secret of their desire to lure Eto’o, and were reported to have made a “monster bid” for the Barcelona striker.

However, their inconsistent league form last season appears to have put off Eto’o, who may now decide to join their city rivals instead.

Indeed, the British tabloid quotes a source close to the player as saying, “Samuel has not been convinced by a move to a mid-table side in the Premier League and neither will he sign a new deal at Barca.”

Despite having made the surprise move for Newcastle United striker Michael Owen this week, Man United could still be in the market for another forward and, having sold Cristiano Ronaldo, still have plenty of finances at their disposal.

i fink he will be a great signing for us. we need some 1 to fill in the gap because ronaldo has gone. We should also try to buy fabiano and silva. we have got 80 mills to spend. y not try a defender as well. maye serio ramos. plus sell neville. we should also try to bid for ribery. he is a world class player. i hope alex ferguson spends wisely.

Samuel will be a descent signing for united, but where that does leave Rooney!!! I bet he will not be pleased but still he will give it all for manu..
He had no problems playing the second strikers role with England like Heskey or Crouch!! Bet Eto'o will do the same.. Eto'o is a hard worker and i wish United sign him.. But keep in mind he is more outspoken and has attitude problems!!! he will be a good asset in the Champions league games.
But i am more worried abt Rooney's position this year. Manutd for Life!!!!! :)
