Galliani hails the 'New Capello' Leonardo

Tuesday, 02 June 09, 02:24 AM · Comments (0)

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani believes Leonardo can emulate the success Fabio Capello had with the club in the early `90s.

Capello was offered the Milan job in 1991 having spent four years working for one of Silvio Berlusconi's companies.

Leonardo has taken the same route, although he has worked for Milan as a technical adviser since retiring as a player.

“With Leonardo, Milan want to retrace the steps they have already taken with Fabio Capello,” Galliani explained.

“Leo was a great player and great director. The scepticism that surrounds Leonardo is inferior to that which gathered around Capello, who was defined as Berlusconi's butler.”

To those who still consider Leonardo a choice imposed by Berlusconi, Galliani said: “All the decisions come to be agreed together.

“The choice of Leonardo is that of President Berlusconi and Vice-President Galliani. Leonardo was a great champion, he is an intelligent person.”\
