While the other National Teams are just in light training sections, USA is playing a tournament, the Gold Cup, and will get in great shape to face their group with Argentina in the next Copa America Venezuela, starting in 15 days.
The team made three excelent games so far, wining all of them, scoring 7 goals and their defense remains without suffering any goals.
Meanwhile, Brazil keeps having trouble with players. After Kaka, Ronaldinho and Ze Roberto refused to play and Lucio and Julio Cesar are injuried, now it is time to CBF and Real Madrid fight for Robinho.
Madrid's number 10 should be in Brazil for training last Tuesday, but his Team decided not to allow as Madrid have an important game next Sunday.
if the states had lost a game it should have been concidered a huge dissapointment. they have a decent team and the tournament is at home, and comparitively in that tournament (which no one outside of it cares about) they are the only team other than mexico who has shown something on a world level.
southamerica is a different world and they wont be playing haitis, guadalupes or panama's, they will be playing world champions and top world class players even out of the weakest of the southamerican nations. they will also be playing in a country that doesnt take kindly to them. As a canadian it would benifit me to see them do well, but i wouldnt count my chickens over one of the weeakest international tournaments in the world.

Brasil needs to remain calm and allow Robinho to end the season. Just one more week. It is ashame that Lucio is hurt. He is a fantastic player. The competition for the US in the Gold Cup is not very good, but at least they are gelling as a team and gaining confidence. I am hoping that most of the squad will go to the Copa America, but alot of the MLS teams are crying as well. It is time for the US to show that they can play with the big boys in our hemisphere.
I think Brasil will pull it together and just need to call up more players from Europe AND Brasil.
I dont think Brasil need to call up anyone else. they have an excellent squad. and I wouldnt make too much of the US's sucesses in the gold cup, it's probably the worst international tournament there is. the US and Mexico are two powerhouses in a group of little boys (figuratively speaking) the fact that they have scored 7 goals and not conceeded is not nearly as impressive as it may apear. Mexico is not performing up to snuff, and well that happens to all teams at some point, so lets not use them as a counter source and also lets remember that the US is the home team.
we'll see what they are made of when they get to Venesuela, somthing tells me the numbers wont be quite the same. I for one will be shocked if they make it out of the group.
