Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho: 3 players for only 2 places

Friday, 17 August 07, 02:17 PM

Robinho changed his level as a player after Copa America. He was the only star in the Brazilian National Team but overcame the pressure and got the title, the MVP, top scorer and leadership of the team.

At least for the next matches, nobody could doubt he is going to be a starter for Dunga. He is definately not a choker anymore.

But from now on, Ronaldinho and Kaka are back. They were called for the friendly against Argelia and probably will be in the squad also for the North American tour against US and Mexico.

After those three matches, Brazil will start the World Cup 2010 Qualifer. It will be about time for Dunga to decide his perfect eleven.

The fact is that after Copa America success, Dunga will probably insists forever with his midfield with three defensive players (volantes). It is really hard to believe that Gilberto Silva, Mineiro and Elano (or Josue) won't play as starters.

Assuming that, we would have three places left. One is for the striker (Vagner Love or Fred or even Ronaldo). The other two would be disputed by Robinho, Kaka and Ronaldinho.

My guess is that Kaka will play with Robinho the first two matches. Ronaldinho will be on the bench.

But let's see what happens. Robinho had one month to practice with the team and was the only star. Once the european leagues start, Kaka and Ronaldinho will play every match and will be in shape soon.

Robinho and his Real Madrid nightmare can go back to the bench at anytime and loose his good rithym. That would take Ronaldinho back to the number 10 jersey right away.

Assuming that I am right, what do you think? If you have two places for Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho, who would you put in your team?

Gold Cup: semifinals

Monday, 18 June 07, 07:02 AM

USA vs Canada and Mexico vs Guadaloupe. Both games will be in Chigado June 21.

USA keeps the best record of the tournament, with 8 goals pro and only one against after 4 wins.

Everybody expects a final between Mexico and USA and it is really hard to think about anything different than that. But it is good to remember that Canada had the best score in the quaterfinals after beating Guatemala 3-0. USSoccer got a 1-0 against the same Guatemala in the first round.

In the other site, Mexico have everything in terms of tradition, but they still din't play their best football so far.

On the way to Venezuela

Wednesday, 13 June 07, 07:56 AM

While the other National Teams are just in light training sections, USA is playing a tournament, the Gold Cup, and will get in great shape to face their group with Argentina in the next Copa America Venezuela, starting in 15 days.

The team made three excelent games so far, wining all of them, scoring 7 goals  and their defense remains without suffering any goals.

Meanwhile, Brazil keeps having trouble with players. After Kaka, Ronaldinho and Ze Roberto refused to play and Lucio and Julio Cesar are injuried, now it is time to CBF and Real Madrid fight for Robinho.

Madrid's number 10 should be in Brazil for training last Tuesday, but his Team decided not to allow as Madrid have an important game next Sunday.

Blanco: kisses and bye bye

Monday, 11 June 07, 09:20 AM

Mexico are probably having their worst start ever in a Gold Cup. After a difficult win over Cuba, el Tri lost 1 x 2 to Honduras.

Worst than that. Mexico lost the fair play when Blanco, after a mock kiss, decided to elbow the oppenent in the stomach. The official saw it and the mexican legend (more legend than player lately actually) got a red card.

Watch the kiss and the reaction.

If your name is Kim…

Wednesday, 13 December 06, 03:41 AM

The start list for Jeonbuk has 6 defenders, 3 MFs and only one forward. It is curious the fact that there is 3 players named Kim in the star list and two others Kim on the bench. If your name is Kim you have a good chance to be a player for Jeonbuk.

Interview with Guillermo Ochoa, Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Claudio Lopez

Tuesday, 12 December 06, 09:01 AM

Blanco: We were not surprised with the Korean team. They have a strong team and they like to dominate the middle field. But we manage to win.

Claudio Lopez: I am happy to play against Barcelona again. They are the best team in Europe and probably one of the bests of the world. But they like to play offensively, just like us. That is going to be a great game.

Claudio Lopez: There is no magic. We are going to play against Barcelona and not against Ronaldinho. There so many good players.

Ochoa: I think Ronaldinho free kick goal against Werder Bremen was on purpose. Only a player like him could think of something like that.

Interview with Ze Carlo and Botti

Tuesday, 12 December 06, 08:33 AM

OleOle: How was the game?
Botti: We played really well and we could have won. But America is a great team and we didn’t have the ability to score.

OleOle: Do you think you would have a better chance if you had played the clubs from the other draw?
Botti: It’s hard to say, but playing a team like America is difficult because they can win in just one play, and that’s exactly how it has happened.

OleOle: Tell us about the play when you almost scored the first goal of the match.
Ze Carlo: It was a great opportunity. I had the ball and I could have scored, but Ochoa is in great shape and I didn’t have luck in the end.

OleOle: And now, how will you be motivating yourselves for the game against Auckland City?
Ze Carlo: We don’t want to be in last place. We are going to play for the win. After that, I will have my vacation in Brazil. I miss my family.
