I've already stated before, that it is very hard to be a soccer fan in America. It became much easier since David Beckham joined the LA Galaxy, or even better since he made his debut a
couple of days ago Vs. Chelsea. However, despite the rising popularity of the game here, when I watch the soccer channels I often hear the commentators complain about the Media Circus
surrounding Beckham's arrival. Do you get this? Media Circus. Instead of embracing the moment, and enjoy the new audience you complain. Oh shut up!!! Go get another job.
Beckham does has the biggest caliber to ever land in the MLS, but he isn't the greatest player to play on North American soil. Do I need to remind you of the NASL? The New York Cosmos? PELE? See my
point? Anyway, JLuiS is right, I'm not impressed by Beckham's game. And don't be saying "oh, he played bad because he was hurt". He had the choice to stay on the bench or to even be in the stands,
but he played. He wasn't impressive. I guess we'll have wait till his ankle gets better.
Becks has done nothing yet, He is on a terrible team. He is only one man and human. He cant save Football in this country. Any smart football person knows thats impossible. Sure HE will sell alot of
jerseys, make the club some money. Becks is on another level football wise... Its not AYSO anymore where one great player can come in and start scoring and winning games... Just pass the ball to
Becks all the time and thats the way, the Galaxy will win.. Sounds like a great plan, coach! Modern Football is more technical then Kickin and Screaming soccer tactics. American Soccer owes nothing
to Becks, the League was here before him and soccer has been in this country since the turn of the century. Get over Becks! Its not Goltv's fault its American soccer show sucks, other than Lidsey
Dean, the rest of those jokers are clueless.
jluis: he played 12 minutes in a friendly, and hurt, how can you be impressed? and anti-madridista: he had to play. the league, espn and the sport itself had too much invested in that friendly. It
was more of a business move than a sporting move. beckham when fit will be the best player in the mls. hands down. also, please give MLS and beckham a chance. a big reason why soccer struggles here
in the US is because the sport has detractors within its own fans. There are the so-called Euro-snobs, who love the sport but talk about the MLS like its a disease. If you really want soccer to
succeed in this country ... SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CLUBS! I understand that the football is not great, but how will it improve if you don't support it?
Your words are true, gonzilla. I never liked becks, obviously, because he was a Madrid player, but that's in the past. He's a player in my country's league and I think he will do great in the MLS,
but I'm just saying, he had the choice to not play. I mean, I don't think he is stupid enough to put his ankle in any more pain, you know what I'm saying?
True, Every Football "soccer" fans needs to support the MLS. I know its not the best league but its our league, I enjoy going to the Chivas USA matchs. Its only as good as You make it.
If the Galaxy make the playoffs this year (no easy taks) more people will be looking at soccer and thats the ultimate goal so lets just see how becks does. He moved pretty well on the ankle but we
will see.
i don't understand how being a soccer fan became easier when beckham came to the U.S. being a soccer fan means u love the game PERIOD..... i was an mls fan before beckham came and i will be an mls
fan after he leaves. i think that beckham is going to make the league bigger than it is rite now. and thats what the mls needs. i think its to early to say that beckham is gonna be the number one
goal scorer or the best player in the league but it is definetly a possibility. GONZILLA well said about supporting your local clubs, thats exactly what any league needs. LETS GO TORONTO FC!!!!!!!!

Amaldo - don't sweat it GOLTV might has well be Latin America Bias TV. Becks will do just fine here and hopefully with him and if Freddy Adu stays Soccer could go from being the 6th most popular
sport to the 4th in the US (really golf and NASCAR are not "real" sports but i digress) It was great to see him play and lets see what the future holds.
eh.... he has yet to make a statement in US soccer. I'm not impressed yet....
