Alberto Aquilani Hit Or Miss at Liverpool?

Thursday, 06 August 09, 09:16 AM

best football snog

The 25-year-old is to undergo a medical on Merseyside ahead of signing a four-year contract. The midfielder, who has 11 caps for Italy and was part of the squad who competed at Euro 2008, is a direct replacement for Xabi Alonso, who joined Real Madrid for £30m yesterday.

"Roma have allowed us to talk with him [Aquilani], so that's good and positive," said Benítez. "He is a player with the quality we are looking for. He can play a little bit higher than Javier Mascherano – maybe between him and Steven Gerrard.

"He is a good passer, the final ball is good, and he also works. If he can settle down properly in England he can be a very good addition. I think the signing should excite the fans."

Soccer player hit by lighting in football match

Tuesday, 21 July 09, 10:12 AM

football fights

This is one of the worst things you would think could happen in football but actually did!.  FC Nordsjaelland  reserves in norway game ended in tragedy on Monday night after a bolt of lighting  struck a player, leaving the footballer near to death. As it is the prognosis is still gravely concerning after Jonathan Richter was left in a coma after the lightning attack. Richter was said to have been struck directly in either the chest or head area. Such was its power, up to six other footballers on the pitch were said to have been knocked over at the time this hit! Richter has been put in artificial coma to help with his battle for survival

We dont think you are unlikely to find a more distressing  report  in the world of football this year it just shows you anything can happen in this sport
