Cristiano Ronaldo hit the woodwork for Manchester United in a goalless draw in spain which saw one red card for Villarreal and plenty of action but no goals.Manchester United and Villarreal secured their places in the last 16 of the Champions League with a drab 0-0 draw in Group E at El Madrigal.
The sides knew a draw would be enough to put them both through, regardless of Celtic's result at Aalborg, and no other result ever looked likely in a game lacking much incident.
Cristiano Ronaldo went closest for United on a couple of occassions in the first half and Joan Capdevila was sent off late on for a second bookable offence, but there was little else to talk about as the sides drew 0-0 for the fourth time in succession

Celtic crash out of the Champions League yet again after another away defeat. Heart-breaking after a game which they deserved to win.Gordon Strachan's side took a thoroughly deserved second half lead through Barry Robson, before a cruelly deflected Lucas Caca shot beat Artur Boruc and Gary Caldwell netted an own-goal to send the Scottish side out of the competition in the dying moments.
Celtic dominated a first half which should have yielded a healthy lead, with Georgios Samaras missing two glorious opportunities to reflect his side's possession in the scoreline. To their cost, Celtic sat back on their lead and Aalborg, whose only dangerous outlet was Caca, equalised in the 73rd minute when the midfielder was allowed to advance and unleash a shot which took a wicked deflection off Stephen McManus.

Alejandro Moreno opened the scoring in the 31st minute, slotting a tight-angled shot past Red Bulls goalkeeper Danny Cepero. New York equalized early in the second half through John Wolyniec, but Chad Marshall’s header from a Schelotto corner kick restored the Crew’s lead 87 seconds later. Schelotto then earned his MLS Cup record third assist in the 82nd minute, with is direct pass allowing Frankie Hejduk to cap the scoring.Schelotto was named the MLS Cup Most Valuable Player for his record-setting performance, becoming the third player in league history to win league MVP honors as well as in the MLS Cup Final.35-year-old Schelotto, a long-time star in his native Argentina, assisted on all the Columbus Crew’s goals in Sunday’s 3-1 MLS Cup victory over the New York Red Bulls. Afterward, he received the game’s MVP award to go with the regular-season MVP trophy he was presented earlier in the week.
Schmid hoisted the Cup in the home stadium of the Los Angeles Galaxy, a team that axed him in 2004, two years after he guided the club to the MLS championship.
“It’s a very emotional moment for me, winning this game here in L.A. in front of family and friends. And, to be quite honest, the town that I was fired in,” Schmid said.Alejandro Moreno scored in the first half for Columbus and, after New York’s John Wolyniec tied it 1-1 in the 51st minute, Chad Marshall put the Crew back in front two minutes later. Frankie Hejduk added an insurance goal.
