So how did this happen? An Arsenal fan at the Emirates not watching a football match. I'm sorry, I can't answer this for you. I can only tell you the events as they happened.......
So it was Christmas Day and the snow covered the ground, carol singers could be heard in the distance........if you believe that then you will believe Arsene Wenger is moving to PSG and you read the DailyTelegraph. However, it was Christmas Day and I opened the envolope just given to me, only to find 2 tickets to the Emirates inside. At first, excitement filled the air, only to fade as I looked closer at the tickets. "Bruce Springsteen." Who's he then? Some washed up American singer? What was he doing at the Emirates?
Until this weekend, I thought little of these tickets until the night arrived, then a sense of fear came over me. I know what you are thinking. You would fear a night with Bruce, but this was a different fear. What were those thousands of crazy fans going to do to our pitch? I started to have nightmares about the spilt drinks, fag ends and lots of stamping feet. It was like having a new carpet in my lounge then having a house party for a gang of farmers, straight from work.
So the night arrived, I walked up to the stadium and through to my seat. I turned my head towards the pitch and didn't want to open my eyes. As I did, to my relief, it was safe under cover. How could I have been so stupid as to think that the gaffer would let anything happen to the best pitch in the Premier League?
The concert turned out to be pretty good. He did rock the place. However, I would much prefer to watch Arsenel every day of the week. Only the summer to go and I will be there for all the right reasons this time. But, heh, I did go to the first concert at the Emirates.
