A Star Is Born.

Last night the Welsh under 21 team were beaten 5-4 on aggregate after a 2-2 draw with England in their bid to reach the finals of the European under 21 Championships. you may think that it was a fairly insignificant match but you would be wrong. The game was completely controlled by the youngest player on the pitch who just happened to be 17 year old Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal. The English team were mostly players from the premiership and Ramsey completely dominated them. He scored with his left from at least 25 metres(despite being right footed), beautifully made the other goal and hit the post late on in his attempt to force extra time. The boy looked really good and he has to be pushing for a place in the first team. He looks like he can play in Cesc's position or maybe just off the striker in a 4-5-1 formation. We have being playing a lot of 4-4-2 this season but in big games the manager has to have the bottle to play leave out a big name striker for the good of the team and I think he could be the ideal man for the role. I know it's a big step up but the boy deserves his chance and I think he will grasp it with both hands. How bright is our future. We have Ramsey, Wilshere, Theo, Vela, Traore, Bendtner & Cesc is still a child in football terms too. There are others I haven't named either and it makes the future look really exciting but unfortunately we still have the present to deal with and we need more from our experienced players especially our mentally unstable captain(Capi). Let's hope we can get our act together and play to our best in every game from here on in.

Gael Clichy has revealed that a few words of inspiration from Denis Bergkamp were what helped him to become the player he is today and Paddy Vieira has told Cesc he can win it all at Arsenal. our manager has said that he doesn't think increasing the amount of teams at the Euro finals to 24 will improve the competition and you have to agree with him. It will give smaller countries a chance to make the finals which does bring some romance to the game but considering that the international game is dying at the moment I don't think it will help. There is more talk of whether Tomas Rosicky will be back this year or not but it is all becoming very boring at this stage. Our Ladies lost 3-0 to Lyon and now face a group winner over 2 legs in the quarter finals of their equivilant of the Champions League. Lastly, 15 year old Jason Banton has left our academy to join Blackburn and it is being compared to Bentley's move in that direction. That's very unfair on the kid as maybe he can move on from Blackburn to a proper football club unlike that idiot Bentley. That's about it for today except to say that I will be celebrating with the other Arsenal fans this weekend as the only thing that wasn't increased in price in our budget yesterday was beautiful beer. Mind you it has gone up by 30 cents already this year so they will only be half hearted celebrations unless of course we beat Everton.

I'll leave you with more action of a recent game against Everton.
