I need to get back in to the habit of writing this blog earlier in the day but it's been difficult since last Tuesday night to get excited about the club I love. However with a league match at home to Chelsea coming up tomorrow things are getting back to normal at last. It's been very difficult to live with the fact that my team weren't good enough and didn't seem to want it as much as Manure but that's how I viewed the game anyway. I won't harp on about it again because it's been gone into too much already but something will have to change in our mindset if we are to progress to the next level.
The manager says it's good that we are in the top four in Europe and that he doesn't need to change the squad too much. He does say that he will look to bring in 1 or 2 experienced players as he has enough youngsters and that they won't be strikers. I know we made the Champions league semi finals which is why the boss says we are in Europe's top 4 but we have struggled to make England's top four this season. I guess he's just a "glass is half full" type of person. I suppose we won't bring in a striker if Adebayor stays but I think we should sell him if we get the right offer for him.
Anyway I've figured out a method to help me recover the ability to watch Arsenal playing and unsurprisingly it involves alcohol. I will be travelling to the supporters club in Bray tomorrow and having a few beers while I watch the game. It will be interesting to see which team has recovered the best from their midweek disappointments. Chelsea had a much worse time of it than us obviously as they were a tad unlucky to go out but in my opinion they deserved nothing over the 2 games as their tactics were awful and their diving was disgraceful. I'll preview the game in an early post tomorrow. The early news though is that Gibbs will probably play but Arshavin won't.
Our youths have won their way to another cup final. This time it's FA Premier Academy League final and after winning 2-1 away to Man City last night they will be playing either The Spuds or Sunderland away from home in the final. I'm not sure yet when the match is to be played but I'll keep you informed as soon as I find out. Added to their FA Youth Cup final against Liverpool they will have a busy end to the season and hopefully a double to their credit. It was good result considering they had 4 players away on under 17 international duty with England including Jack Wilshere.
The club have announced the other participants in the 2009 Emirates Cup and to be honest it doesn't seem as glamourous as it has been in previous years. The other clubs are Rangers, P.S.G. & Atletico Madrid and the games will be played on August 1st & 2nd. They have also fined Bendtner for his little episode on Tuesday night but the manager has said he was not fined for the photo or being drunk as he wasn't drunk. He was fined for being out though as it against club policy as far as I know. The manager went on to say the photo oppurtunity was a set up and he felt for the boy. I'll leave it there for today.
Here's a few highlights of the season as it draws to a close.
And to finish today's title track from The Cure. I've used this title because of how "Close To Me" Arsenal and how bad it made me feel this week after Tuesday night.
See You Tomorrow.

Would it be too much to ask that one of Denilson, Diaby or Song will be able to make a massive step up next season and give Cesc the reliably and sturdy CM/DM he needs to operate? We've seen players step up hugely before, remember Toure "arriving"? I was hoping this year would see that sort of a development, but aside from Song improving all three have fallen well short of the Arsenal CM mark. Maybe Wenger will not buy such a player in the hope that one of these three steps up.

Song looks the most likely to at the moment but I'd still love to see a top class international come in for that position in the summer. I don't think Denilson will quite make it & Diaby is too injury prone. We can't hope players will step - we need to challenge from the start to the finish in all competitions next season.
