There isn't a whole lot of news about today and with our last match of the season not until Sunday it looks like we are in for a quiet time. If we had a FA Cup final to look forward to it would be different but that boat has sailed away into the distance. After Stoke on Sunday we face into 55 days before the next Arsenal match in our annual friendly against Barnet. During that time we will have transfer rumours to deal with and hopefully a few signings too. There is also the possibility of a departure or two but besides that it won't be easy to find something to write about. I will have to start digging into the archives and bringing up some memories of my own from Arsenal's past to try to fill the void.
Speaking about our game with Manure on Saturday the boss said that we are not too far behind them and watching them lift the trophy afterwards was something for our players to aspire to. Personally I think we may have matched them in the 2 league games but in the Champions league they showed the difference between us and them is immense. We were found wanting in virtually every aspect of our game on both occasions and if the boss cannot see that it is worrying. I know he is fond of talking up the team but the time for talk is over and the time for action is here. He must act in the transfer window and buy the quality players we need. I would like to see Hangeland, Yaya Toure and maybe Dzeko come into the club. I haven't seen an awful lot of Dzeko but what I have seen I like.
A few months ago the manager said that the team would be judged in May and we now have only 1 match left before the season is over. There is no need for me to tell anybody how we have done in May as the results speak for themselves but we achieved what most fans predicted in August which is a season with no trophies and 4th place in the league. Sure the kids are a year older but there were almost a season wiser when we capitulated to Manure and Chelsea in the last couple of weeks. Arshavin has said that we need more ready made players like him and he was the main reason we finished 4th. Does the boss think signing him set the progress of the younger players back or did it bring the whole team on.
We are linked with Josue the 29 year old defensive midfield captain of Wolfsburg but I think he might be a little too old for the boss to sign. Milan appearently want the 25 again and they're welcome to him. They obviously haven't being watching him this season. Inter appearently want RVP and they think they can get him on the cheap as he only has a year left on his contract. I hope he signs an extended contract for us as he has a future at the club in my opinion.
It's back to work for me this morning after having had yesterday off and the countdown to my holidays is on now. I've only 18 working days to go but who is counting - well actually I am. That's it for today. I haven't bothered with the Wenger to Madrid stories as they're just nonsense in my opinion and he is going nowhere.
Here's a clip of a couple of goals Dzeko scored against Bayern recently.
And to finish today's title track from Cactus World News which tells me the difference between us and Manure at the moment.
See You Tomorrow.
