Clichy Back for The Weekend.

Friday, 26 September 08, 05:32 AM

Good Morning to one and all. Let's start with some team news for tomorrow's match against Hull City. Gael Clichy is available after the horrible challenge on him last weekend and Silvestre is also available. I don't know about Nasri but there might be some news later. Ther is no word on Diaby either but who knows when we will see him again, maybe in the next round of the Carling Cup. Since Tuesday night everybody has been congratulating me on our great performance and also asking if we will be able to keep all of these young players at the club. I'm sure nobody that Arsene wants in the first team at any stage will be allowed to leave(said he hopefully). Speaking of the kids, Crystal Palace are looking to get a few of them on loan as they are a little short at the moment. I think we should let no more than 1 go as we need them to play as part of a team. Having said that the manager of Crystal Palace is Neil Warnock and I think the players would learn more about real football in our youth team than under him. The players they are after didn't feature from the start the other night so it wouldn't affect our Carling Cup team if they went.

Wojciech Szczesny, the young Polish goalkeeper has signed a long term contract, so the boss obviously thinks he's one for the future. Michel Platini has said he was too harsh on Arsene and his dad told him to apologise. However in doing so he took another swipe at our policy of getting young players from all over the globe. Daddy won't be happy again. I think his father gave Arsene his original break in football which is why he wasn't happy with the comments.

On to the match on Saturday evening now. I am absolutely gutted because I will miss the game due to work commitments and I won't be able to watch it with the Wicklow Gunners in The Strand. Such is life for those of us who haven't been affected by the Recession yet. The players have had a full week to work with the coaching staff for the first time in ages and I think this should have a really good effect on our game. Cesc will hopefully have used this time to rediscover his top form and we will see the best of him tomorrow. Ahead of the game Hull have been saying that they don't fear us and I hope this is the case. if they come to the Emirates with no fear and try to play against us we will tear them apart. their only chance is a backs to the wall defensive game and hope to score from a quick break or set piece. I confidently predict a 3-0 win for us and I hope Vela gets a game at some stage so we can see him with the other first teamers. That's about it for today.

Here's a clip of what the atmosphere can be like at the Emirates when we really want it.

The Boys Done Good !

Wednesday, 24 September 08, 05:06 AM

Well the youngsters showed us all what they can do last night. Boy did they show us. On the face of it we had a tough game against seasoned campaigners Sheffield United but we made it look so easy it was incredible. Yesterday I hoped we would play with flair and pace and we did just that. I also said I thought that we would see the class of Vela and that I thought Bendtner would show us how much he is pushing for a first team place by stepping up to the challenge. Well neither of them disappointed with 5 goals between them and Jack Wilshere adding the sixth. The manager is going to have some real selection headaches with both Vela and Bendtner pushing Adebayor and Van Persie really hard for a start. It's great to see all the options we have. This was the youngest team we ever started in a competitive match and they didn't let us down. We got 56,00+ into the Stadium when Liverpool & United had a lot of empty spaces for their games. I know the prices were dropped but it was easily worth the entrance fee and more. I'm sure it was easier to sell tickets as we weren't on the T.V. but I have managed to find the goals and there are linked further on.

In other news that idiot Platini was having a go at the Manager for daring to have a different opinion to him. He thinks Wenger is only interested in business and not football. We run the club at a profit. If the rest of Europe followed the game would be much healthier. We also develop our young players from all over the world and teach them to play the right way. If other clubs did the same it would be a much better game. however that's enough about Platini and let's just hope that none of his stupid plans ever come to fruition. We have been linked to a 14 year old called Gerard Deulofeu at Barcelona but who knows if there's any truth in it. In last night's game at Old Trafford we saw a young United player suffer the type of foul that has probably broken his leg. This has been coming for a while as I have said and the F.A. have done nothing up to now. Remember the fouls on Eboue and Clichy which could have ended in the same result against Fulham and Bolton, not to mention the tackles on Cesc & RVP against Blackburn. if the F.A. had been strong on those culprits maybe that idiot Pogatetz would have thought twice before doing what he did. He should be banned for as long as it takes the United player to recover as should Guthrie of Newcastle after his leg breaking lunge on Fagan of Hull. That's about it for today and I'll preview the Hull game later in the week.

I'll leave you with a link to the goals from last night.

The Kids Should Win Tonight.

Tuesday, 23 September 08, 06:01 AM

Our under 11 side get their first run out of the season tonight against Sheffield united in the Carling Cup. With prices reduced we will probably have a full house which should be good for them. The half time bottles will be nicely warmed and the bowls of Liga ready for everybody. Pat Rice will also be on hand to wind anyone who needs it. Seriously though it looks like being the youngest ever side that we will field in a first team competitive match but it will still be a strong team. We have full internationals in Fabianski, Djourou, Song, Vela & Bendtner and some very promising youngsters such as Wilshere, Randall, Ramsey & Merida. Ahead of the game the manager has said he thinks Ramsey could be a great player for us and I really hope this is the case. let's hope we play our usual fluid attacking football and it should be too much for them. I predict another 3-1 win.

In other news Johan Djourou has signed a new long term deal and Gael Clichy has a good chance of being ready for the Hull game next weekend after that terrible foul on him by Davies. Kevin Nolan has said that he told J Lloyd Samuel to have a kick at Walcott to see if he came back for more. we all know the poor teams resort to this but for their captain to admit it is stupidity. The days where you could get away with "letting your man know you were there" are long gone(except for Gary Neville on Reyes at Old Trafford) and if they show any consistency the F.A. will act on these comments. Which means of course that they won't. One of our players left a confidental document in the hotel we stayed in and it has a lot of club secrets on it. Appearently the manager wants the players to stick together, play our own game and win. Oh My God we've been found out. Maybe we should now have some infighting, revert to Liverpool's long ball game and lose. That would fool everybody. Next week the press will reveal the big secret that we play the most attractive football in England(or anywhere else) and we will be in turmoil. They must have employed brain surgeons to work it all out. That's about it for today.

I'll leave you with our goals against Sheffield United in this competition last season. Get well soon Eduardo.

How To Beat The Monday Morning Blues

Monday, 22 September 08, 05:07 AM

Good Morning. As the title says I have a foolproof plan to beat the Monday morning blues. It's very easy when you think about it. Support Arsenal and not Spurs ! We're top of the table and Spurs are bottom. What a joy that is and especially when you consider that some so called experts had again forecast them to finish in the top four ahead of us. I know we're only 5 games in and we've had a relatively easy start but the only time they put up any sort of performance was against Chelsea which indicates that they cannot rise to the occasion unless it is a big game. That doesn't look too good for them and it would be terrible if they were relegated again. I can remember the last time it was great when they took the old second division by storm.

Anyway that's enough gloating for today and on to Arsenal news. We are still top thanks to United getting a draw at Chelsea yesterday and Stoke doing likewise at Liverpool. I have to say I was impressed by Man City's attacking play against Portsmouth and the future looks bright for them already. We will have to watch our backs as both them and Villa could actually push for a top four finish unlike The Spuds who will have to battle relegation all season hopefully. They're already 10 points down on us. We have Sheffield United at home tomorrow night in the Carling Cup tomorrow night and we'll see what the squad is like later in the day. I'm sure a lot of reserves will feature and anyone who didn't start at the weekend probably will play with the exception of Walcott & RVP. I, for one , am really looking forward to seeing Carlos Vela in action. Our ladies beat Birmingham 6-2 at the weekend to maintain their 100% record but the youths lost for the first time this season by 3-2 to Reading thanks to 2 late goals. We are again being linked with Sebastian Giovinco of Juventus but as I've said before nothing can happen until January. That's about it for today.

The link below is some of our best goals against Spurs.

16 Players away with 12 countries.

Thursday, 04 September 08, 08:23 AM

The international break is well and truly here and we have 16 players away on international duty with 12 different countries. It's like the United Nations at Arsenal although Theo says there's a lot of French in the dressing room which is probably because our Africans & Swiss players speak it as well as the French of course. There isn't an awful lot happening obviously as a result so I'll keep it short today.

The Manager says we will have a new chief executive soon which is obviously needed. Carlos Vela has been in the papers saying how he loves it at Arsenal and how he wants to fit in with our style of play and hopes to get a chance soon. Cesc has been saying how we are faster than Spain in our style & passing which isn't really news as we knew it already. In my opinion he doesn't start every game for Spain because he plays outside La Liga. Politics plays a big part in who plays for Spain but that's good for us as we want him to play for them as little as possible to keep him fit for us. Samir Nasri has said that he will try to live up to being compared to Robert Pires and that he hopes to have the Arsenal career that Bobby had. I hope he does too. We are also rumoured to be interested in Stephen Appiah who is available as he is out of contract I think but I can't see us signing him as there are question marks over him about match fixing.

As I have said before for anyone in Wicklow or South Dublin I'm a member of the newly formed Wicklow Gunners and the link below is to their fledgling web site with all the info you might need.

I'll leave it at that for today.

To finish there's a clip of our double winners of 1970/70 from a programme called Match Of The Seventies when we won the league at White Hart Lane and beat Liverpool in the cup final. Same again please.
