With eleven games gone in the Barclay’s Premier League season 2009/2010, it appears as though there
could be a very interesting and unpredictable season ahead. A few major things have happened over the summer that have led to this situation. Firstly, Manchester City have spent an unbelievable
amount of money on players that might not be considered as top world class signings, but all of them have Premiership experience and this could definitely see them making it into the top four
come May. Manchester United have lost Tevez and especially Ronaldo and have definitely not replaced them, making their squad look poorer than it has for years. Arsenal have managed to get several key players back to being fit again and with the introduction of Thomas
Vermaelen at centre half, look like title contenders for the first time in a couple of seasons. Tottenham look like a much better team this season and although I wouldn’t consider them anywhere
near title contention, they could prove to be a team that could influence where the title goes on their quest to reaching a European spot. Liverpool have had a dreadful start to the season and by
losing five matches already this season, cannot possibly be considered to challenge for the league title this year. Then we come to Chelsea, who are sitting at the top of the league and looking very strong this season. Carlo Ancelotti has continued the excellent work of Guus
Hiddink towards the end of last season and I would certainly consider them to be favourites for the league title. Not at lot has changed in the Stamford Bridge squad, except that the players seem
to be working harder playing better. Those wearing Chelsea shirts are currently flying high and the two major factors which could stop them from winning the title for the first time since 2006 is that they have several key players involved in the
African Nations Cup and the fact that they will not be able to sign any players in January. This is the most interested I’ve been in an English Premier League season since Mourinho took over at Chelsea and I can see there being a number of twists and turns along the
way.
