Italian side Lecce have confirmed that Chelsea have made an offer for young striker Valeri Bojinov
Roman Abramovich's 'second club', CSKA Moscow, were rumoured to have offered €12m for the 18-year-old striker, but Lecce have insisted that the only serious offer they have received is from Chelsea.
"The only real offer we have had is from Chelsea," said Lecce's director of sport Pantaleo Corvino.
"They would be open to leaving the player with us until the end of the season.
"We have no intention of selling him outright now -- because we need him in our battle to stay up."
Italian media are suggesting that Chelsea's offer falls slightly short of the projected CSKA bid, but they wouldn't demand an immediate transfer.
A number of top European clubs are said to be interested in Bojinov and the summer could bring a bidding war if no bids are accepted by Lecce during the current transfer window.

I’m not so sure to be honest. He is very talented. Least we forget the last ‘big’ Bulgarian striker? Hristo Stoichkov? This kid is only eighteen, and already the Bulgarian public are touting him as their saviour. I for one have seen him play, and he is a fantastic prospect. He’s bullish in build but amazingly quick and skillful, similar to Wayne Rooney in that respect, but most of all he’s hungry. Furthermore, if Arsenal are interested in signing him as well, you know he must be good as admittedly over the years Wenger has bought some amazing kids through the Arsenal system. If he has his eyes on this one, maybe we should sign him, and loan him out for a season somewhere? He has already said that he would be willing to play for CSKA Moscow if it involved coming to Chelsea. He is definitely one for the future, and I hope we do sign him.
As the Adriano story goes, I hope we do sign him. I’m afraid that would mean releasing certain strikers at the club currently. I hope we would keep Gudjohnsen as he has sublime quality and is also a good hold up player, and Drogba who is just a mean centre forward with lots of potential. I feel Kezman will be sold on as although I like him immensely, I don’t think he can quite cut it at the Premiership level. Then again, it took Henry a while to settle in to the league, maybe it’s the case with him?
Maxwell as well is another amazing player, who would probably replace Bridgey as the starting left back. He has a lot of Roberto Carlos about him in that Brazillian attacking fullback sense, but is also quite solid from what I’ve seen.
And Gerrard is Gerrard. Thinking of a midfield triplet of Lampard, Makelele and Gerrard would be formiddable.
Imagine next seasons side: Cech, Maxwell, Terry©, Gallas/Carvalho, Ferreira, Lampard, Makelele, Gerrard, Robben, Adriano/Drogba/Gudjohnsen, Duff. I cannot wait.

Guys, trust me on this one. I’m a Bulgarian, desperately in love with CFC. Bojinov is a something. Already. He’s got the skills, he’s got the balls! He’s f* young but he’s audacious in taking his chances.
“He’s bullish in build but amazingly quick and skillful, similar to Wayne Rooney in that respect, but most of all he’s hungry”.
That’s it. Most of all it’s his 1st year being regular on the pitch (only introduced as a sub a cpl of times last y.) and he’s scored 10+ goals. That’s f* January, that’s f* italian defence to play against, that’s 18 years, so no experience at all. We need that guy, especially thinking about the prospect of FC Barcelona picking him up soon (I hope you all know how bloody strong the Hristo Stoichkov ~ FCB relationship is). Make our squad stronger, weaken the enemy. Divide and conquer – that’s how a Roman empire is built, right!
btw great blog! keep going!

One for the future? Or a first team regular whenever JM rotates the squad? Don’t know a lot about Bojinov, to be honest. Anyone out there seen him play?
Bojinov,God no!!!he’s too young and he’snt better than Drogba or gudjohsen,we need someone like Andriano and i’m sure chelsea’ll bid for Andrino in the summer cos Mourinho admitted that he likes him.I think in the summer chelsea’ll get Gerrard,Andriano and Maxwell not Bojinov, its just rumour.
