Chelsea v Porto

Wednesday, 29 September 04, 05:06 PM · Comments (0)

An intriguing contest this. Jose Mourinho will be taking on the club he led to Champions League glory last year and will be hoping that the attention to detail and tactical acumen he instilled on Porto's European campaign has rubbed off on Chelsea.

This game could prove to be a strange experience for our summer signings Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira, with the pair having left Porto for Chelsea.

Wayne Bridge is in contention after missing the weekend win at Middlesbrough due to a knock suffered in the draw against Tottenham. He is likely to replace William Gallas who played out of position at left-back in that game.

Carlo Cudicini is back in training but he is likely to be on the bench as Petr Cech starts again in goal, while Adrian Mutu, Celestine Babayaro and Arjen Robben are all out with injuries.

I expect a tight, tactical battle, but can see us winning 2-0.
