The police have declared that Eidur Gudjohnsen has no charges to answer and therefore have cleared him of any drink-driving allegations
Eidur told the official Chelsea FC Website: "I am delighted that the police have confirmed that I will not be charged with any offence arising from the events of the evening of February 13th, 2005.
"The tests on the samples taken from me have proved that I was not over the legal limit to drive and had not therefore broken the law.
"It is now clear that I did not commit any offence.
"I would like to thank the staff at Chelsea Football Club and all the other people who have given me support over the last few weeks.
"I can now look forward to the rest of the season comfortable in the knowledge that my name has been cleared."
And a gold star to those fans who stood by him and asserted that no judgment should be made on the situation until formal charges had been laid and evidence presented. Next time others should show some reserve and respect and not be so reactionary Hmm?

Good news. He always did strike me as being more sensible/intelligent than a certain Airline/Bongo FC player.
Eiður has always struck as a sensible person, and as a fellow countryman and a true Chelsea fan I welcome this information but wonder how a routine police check can hit the national headlines. I thought that public servants were bound by some ethical codes. At least here in Icleland.
But for Eiður to be cleared of any wrongdoing means he will probably go into the Barca game flying high as the rest of our team.
As for me, I will be flying to London to watch the game.
See you.
