Joaquin reveals Chelsea interest

Thursday, 16 December 04, 12:39 PM · Comments (5)

Reports circulating in the press suggest that Chelsea has bid £30m for Real Betis winger Joaquin

This morning's Daily Mirror quotes the Spain international as saying: "The Chelsea offer has given me something to think about.

"I've heard the offer is very big and I know Chelsea are a very big club but for me money was never the issue. Football is the only issue for me.

"My friend [Arsenal's Jose] Reyes tells me good things about English football."

Manchester United are also thought to be interested, although they are unlikely to be able to match Chelsea's financial clout. The player himself admitted his love for the Red Devils.

Joaquin said: "I have always loved Manchester United but personally the main club of the last two seasons has been Chelsea.

"All the players these days want to play for Chelsea and today with Mourinho they will get even better."

Peter Kenyon apparently made a new inquiry last week and Betis president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera admitted that the club would be willing to talk if the right bid was made.

"All things are negotiable in this world," he said.

Joaquin would be a very exciting signing, full of tricks and fast as hell. The other (small) thing he has in his favour is that he’s big, which is definitely an advantage in English football. Compare him to say Shaun Wright-Phillips, who I think is very good but he would be even better if he was 6 foot tall.

I’d like Parker to go on loan to Lazio as well, that would be a brilliant experience for him but I doubt he’ll do it because he’s only recently added a baby daughter to his family. Can’t see him being interested in going to Celtic either.

As for Joe Cole, he apparently had some ‘personal issues’ to resolve but whatever they were it’s now behind him. As the amount of games Chelsea have to play over Xmas is ridiculous I’m sure we’ll be seeing a bit more of Cole.

Anyone know if Real Betis were in the UEFA Cup this season? If they weren’t then I think Joaquin would be eligible for the Champions League – watch us draw Madrid tomorrow, absolute nailed on certainty

As per my under standing,if of course the above news is true, JOse is heading for the following kind of formation
Cech
Ferriera Carvalaho Terry Bridge/Gallas
*******Makelele***Lampard
Joaquin***********************Duff
**************Robben
***********Guddy/Drogs
This in my opinion will be a very interesting and positive move cos this will give chelsea an attacking edge and I’m really excited over the prospect of seeing robben, duff and joaquin playing together.

Yes Joaquin is a stand out and the type of player who’ll flourish under JM in the Premier League Chelsea is fast becoming a weapon of mass destruction.

Oh no Blingo we’ll surely draw Barca JM called it :) I think we are a better team than Real anyway.

I think Joaquin is a fantastic player who, as Blingo pointed out, will be suited to Premiership football. If we sign him during the January transfer window—very likely to my mind—what will it do for Joe Cole’s prospects at Stamford Bridge?

I hope Scott Parker’s future lies with Chelsea. He’s a great player in his position and can only improve if given the chance to. I’d much rather we trimmed the squad by selling the likes of Geremi.

Talking of players leaving—do you think any player in their right mind would want to leave or go out on loan in a year when Chelsea could win the Premiership and Champions League?

As far as I can fathom, Real Betis didn’t play in this season’s UEFA Cup. If they had I’m sure Mourinho would wait until the summer to sign Joaquin. Or maybe he’s trying to sign him before Man Utd find more spare change down the back of the Old Trafford sofa?

if Joaquine comes to chelsea this transfer windows, wow,i’ll be the happiest chelsea fan alive, but i don’t think he’ll come cos Mourinho has made it clear that he want no more players though he could change his mind but i doubt that,to get Joaquine will be ‘bad’cos he’s currently the best right winger in europe right now after Figo.Another player i’ll love if he comes to chelsea is Robinho he ‘pure class’equals Robben if not better. But whether they both come or not, chelsea is winning the premiership and any other cup or cups God says.
